Hi. So moved into a flat and we both have mysky HDi deocders but we only have one coxial cable coming off the dish. What options do I have? - Splittiing it with something like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=444341108 Would doing this cause any degradation in image quality? One con would be cables run around inside the house.. - Getting another cable installed off the dish, how much would this cost? Pro: could get it run directly to my room? Anyway let me know what you guys think I should do?

Yes I believe the splitter would be fine for two decoders I think after that you start losing signal. To have two cable's coming off the dish the LNB would have to be a Dual LNB not a single.

Ask sky to install a Quad LNB and run a 2nd cable

What's the frequency range? does it cover the satallite frequency range?, some splitters will work on both RF (DVB-T) and Satallite (DVB-S) some only work on one or the other. You may want to turn the 12V off on one of the boxes, you don't want both boxes trying to power the LNB.

I would get sky to have this done as they will use top quality cable and put a brand new LNB on the dish and if you are putting it in separate rooms cabling etc can get messy. I don't know if that splitter is the correct one. You could always get a 2/4 way LNB from trademe and do it yourself looking at the sky website its only $49.95 to get a tech out to sort it out. From their website The cost to relocate SKY digital and MY SKY is $49.90. If the house you are moving to has an existing SKY dish, then the relocation fee is deferred until you require the assistance of a technician. Take your SKY decoder, remote control and all the detachable cables from the back of the decoder. At your new house, plug in the cables to the correct places on the decoder and TV. Is there an LNB OUT port on the back of the SKY unit? If so you could run a cable between the two units with no need for a splitter. Splitter wise you want a real one mate, don't muck around. http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/satellite-terrestrial-splitter-p-55.html

How about getting one of the mysky accounts cancelled. Pay sky the $50 to come out and run new cables to where you need them in the house (if landlord lets you) and then split the cost of the sky account + multiroom. Then you both have mysky with the same channels, but at a lower price. (and if you get mysky HDi multiroom, they waive the $10 HD ticket cost per month)

I know we looked at multiroom, and it was $25 per month for the multiroom package, then $15 / mo if you wanted it to be an HDi box) This is dependant on both boxes being on the $15 per month plan, not paying $599 up front. (otherwise someone is throwing their $600 away) If you talk to Sky and explain, they should just send a tech - I guess they will have to give a new card for one of the boxes, so you'd have to check when they re-paired with the new card if the existing recordings got deleted.
