Just started today with Sony + Huawei being the big news today. Im not interested in the Huawei D2 because I think it is stuck in a place between a phone and a tablet. I guess its called a phablet but its too big for a phone and too small for a Tablet imo.

Sony on the other hand, really liking the look of these two new devices. I like the Xperia Z for the glass body and because its waterproof, but from the few videos I have seen on it, it looks like a fingerprint magnet. The ZL has a carbonate body(I think?) and not waterproof, but at least its not a finger print magnet lol. Plus lets not forget the HDR on board as well.

Anyway, what do you think of the days events? what are you looking forward to seeing?

I used to go to CES every year, from 2004 through 2010. I didn't go in 2011 because 2010 was only TVs everywhere - nothing new really.

Sony didn't really do anything for me, 4k is all well and good and I'm not disappointing by it, but it doesn't tickle my fancy.  Their new 5" 1080P phone looks nice but it's still not running stock Android and haven't even given a timeline for a 4.2 update.  It's going to ship with 4.1.X.  I was hoping for a full frame NEX camera perhaps, but maybe that will be announced at Photokina.

My favourite news has came out of Nvidia so far, with actual products like the cloud gaming technology they will sell to regional companies, this could mean NZ/AU get in on cloud gaming technology.

Samsung didn't seem to be up to much either, more smart TV's.  They're putting quad core A15's in these things eyt they still don't seem to want to include Android.  A 4k TV + built in stock android + bluetooth mouse and keyboard = my dream.  Their TV evolution boxes look interesting, but I don't understand why they can't build the SOC into a card form factor, similar to an express card - with yearly/2 yearly upgrade cycles.

Given that Samsung look pretty keen on ditching Android in favour of Tizen, maybe they just can't be bothered putting in the work to make it happen with Android.

I'm eagerly awaiting the S4 announcement.
If it has a true RGB (non-pentile) 4.99inch 1080p display that is being rumoured, it could be the perfect size between the S3 and the Note 2.

Can anybody please tell me what the light on the back of the phone is? Is it just flash from the camera taking pictures/the lighting in the room? Or is it a notification led of sorts? Pictures 6 + 8.

Also March 1st release date supposedly..

Weren't your trips to CES in the past funded by someone else?  I think I remember reading this in the past?
