Skinny should be saying / doing more than Google it as they are the ones that hold onto the unlocking keys for the handsets they sell

Skinny will unlock phones if you are a customer and pay the fee or are nine months into contract. Ask the Trade Me buyer to unlock for you if you are not a Skinny customer.

If the phone has been connected for longer than 9 months unlocking it will be free. You would be best to check with the seller of the device or Skinny.

Do you have a trademe reference number?
Did the trader say the phone can be unlocked?

Pay the $30 and your phone will be working quicker than it'll take you to write another reply. Contacting Huawei is pointless as it's nothing to do with them.

You purchased a locked phone, you have no rights to unlock it except within Skinny's terms.

You should as for a refund if the seller didn't inform you the phone was locked to Skinny.

Long and the short of it is you need to pay for it to be unlocked, get the original owner to unlock it or go with Skinny, or ask for a refund if the item was not sold as described.

One would have thought checking on NW/lock status would have been first on the cards before departing with any dollars to ensure for no hidden costs (much like when purchasing a car...)?

Including asking to get conformation it is not a cloned IEMI or bloked handset

If it wasn't mentioned as a 'skinny only' or locked/unlocked you can only but try request a refund on case of it being missing important information. Or flick it off again for what you paid.

Read my post above! Huawei will not support you as they locked the handset at the request of Skinny! Skinny hold onto the unlocking codes not Huawei
