i didnt realise there were two versions of the Xiaomi Hongmi,do you know the specs of the other version and where to purchase from?

only voda and 2d.
There are no versions of that phone that will work on Telecom.

i was looking at buying it from Mobicity but got confused because of their specs,i thought without 850 htz it wouldnt work on telecom.

Recommended Networks
2Degrees, Vodafone 2G, 3G 1900, Telecom 3G 2100








It won't work in a manner that is very useful for you. Telecom operates a 2100 3g network, in built up areas of congestion. Using this phone on telecom would cause you grief.

I wouldn't buy the version at mobicity.
I suspect it is the original version. The 3g spec is for TD-SCDMA 2100 which no network in NZ uses in any form.

Unfortunately some of the parallel imports around are less than honest when the say the fone will work on Telecom 3G.

TD-SCDMA is the version of 3G used in China. You want the WCDMA version.

imo I think buying that phone from anywhere may be a roll of the dice.

If you are currently on Telecom and want a cheap chinese phone I'd go with a Zopo (as I mentioned earlier).
All their phones are wcdma 850/2100 wcdma and will be a much better build quality than the Hongmi.

otherwise for Telecom you're wasting your time
