Hey there, my wife has brought me a new phone, the Huawei G7010 and so far i am very impressed with it - i have never had anything this fancy before, last phone was a brick that lasted for many years. However does anyone know if it is possible to change the 'widgets' (the shortcut menus that you get to by swipping left and right from the home screen)? And if so how do you change them? As i am not really ever going to make use of Twitter or the media player and would rather have things like the calculator or alarms in those short cut 'widget' places.

Also, sorry, but is there anyway to reorder features menu onto different pages - i can drag them around the page they are on, but for example how do i move 'settings' and 'profiles' to the first page and send 'wap' and 'opera' to the second page? Is it even possible?

Sorry i don't know the operating system this phone uses or these questions maybe simpler to answer. Thanks for your help.

To change widgets you want to get rid off hold down on them and drag them to the bottom of the screen.

To add widgets hold down a blank part of the screen and choose one of the options, to add shortcuts to apps go into applications and hold down on what one you want and it will take you back to the home window and you can move it around from there.

Best option is to watch you tube videos about android 2.2 or your model of phone.

Dion

Thanks for your help, i have tried doing some of your suggestions, but nothing seems to work! I don't seem to be able to delete any of the default widgets or replce them with new ones. Its not a problem i just wont use that feature, which is a little bit disappointing.

Thanks again.

I am thinking of getting this phone but theres pretty much zero information about it out there. Those of you who have one, can you please give us a run down on what its like to use? Can you use mp3 files as ringtones/txt tones, is it slow to navigate, all the stuff the specs dont tell you.  TIA.

From what I understand this is not an android device so using normal android functions as described in this post may not work.

the manual may be your only clue sorry,

Just got this phone also, absolute piece of ......  Very un user friendly, difficult to navigate around and there is no info around except for the manual that comes with, which appears to be written for some other item (like a coffee machine, or lawnmower).  Nothing on 2degrees website, even though i bought it from them.  Wish me luck taking it back.

I would not buy this phone as its not 3g and from the research i did after finding out it was not the android phone does not give it much credit.
Would be a perfect phone for Africa networks, I would recommend the Hauawi Ideos over this model any day.

This phone is a very entry level touch screen and is most definitely not running Android but a proprietary Huawei OS. It is meant to provide a first time touch screen user with their first semi-sophisticated phone. Like the Vodafone 543 or 547.

It is aimed at 10-15 year olds or those who want a larger screen to view text messages and pictures.

Hi guys. i have also had issues.
My biggest one is - (i just bought this "brand new" phone off Trae me), and what do u know, its a dud. I cant scroll across on to the second page of the menus. Does anyone else have or heard of this issue? is there a way to get around it and somehow put all the widgets i want be using onto the second page so i can get settings and whatever else is on the second menu page to the front?
Pretty gutted. Wish people were a little more honest.

I bought this phone two days ago, having lost my old one.
There wasn't a working model in store, and I was in a rush, so I bought it pretty quickly.
I'm now regretting it, as this is the absolute worst phone I have EVER used.
The manual is as vague as the phone options, and misses out a lot of the things you need to know. It's almost like the manual was written for something else.
It took almost two hours to find the SOUND settings, as instead of being in with the other options under Settings, they were in fact under Profiles. The manual mentions nothing about the sound at all, aside from in the media player.
The quietest setting was incredibly loud, and I have school every week, I can't have a phone that loud. So instead I had to settle for having it on silent, which meant I didn't know I had texts until hours after I'd received them.
As for texting itself, adding contacts is near impossible, and when it comes to sending them, you have to go through at least four menus to get there.
For a touch phone, the pressure sensitivity is pathetic, and I have to press really hard to get anything to happen, while scrolling it's slow, but while texting the phone is incredibly sensitive.

This morning when I turned it on, it told me to 'Input phone lock code'. When I changed the settings yesterday so it didn't open things accidentally while in my bag, I just put the lock code as 1234. The default code is also 1234, according to the manual.
So I typed it in, and it proceeds to tell me in large letters with a giant x: 'Emergency number only.'
Excuse me, what?
I try again, and again, and it tells me the same thing.
Right.
In the bottom right corner there's a button labelled 'SOS'. I press that, and it comes up with a list of emergency service numbers.
111, 112, 911, 000, 119 and 999.
So I'm now locked out of my phone, and all it gives me options for is to call various emergency services. Which obviously, I don't want to do.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I have no money, I need a working phone, and it's quite likely I won't be able to return this phone.
If I ever meet the person who wrote that ridiculous manual I'll punch them in the face.
Never buying anything from this company again.
