I'm sure that on my last Android fone I had a TiVo remote app that allowed remote record??  Did I imagine this as I can't seem to find it in the app store anymore and my old fone has been defaulted..

You can do that at any stage via the TIVO web page. Perhaps you were thinking of that?

He may mean a remote control app, that can replace the normal tivo remote. There is an iphone one, but don't know if there is a android one.

There is an official Tivo app for android, but according to Tivo NZ/Aust the Tivo's in this region operate different firmware to the US version and it's not comptiabile, not to mention the play store download is region locked to the US (but there are ways around that) then when you enter your account info so the app can remotly talk to the tivo does not reconise it as a valid number.
