The offer should run for the rest of the year (while stock lasts I assume) and yes, you can charge it to your Telecom home landline at $10/month over 3 years. Now this is a very hot deal. At this price point (for Telecom customers) no other HD HDD recorder will come close.

Right, so the TiVo I bought a while ago for $920 (or whatever it was) is now $360?

I am really annoyed about this and will be phoning Telecom. Do you think I have a cause for complaint?

Will let you know the outcome.

Yes, I agree. I originally bought mine at the full price and are paying it off monthly.
Now that its half price are they going to adjust our monthly payments to suit...
Let us know what they say when you contact them about it please...

How long ago? I remember people complained when the iPhone dropped $100USD in price 1 month after launch and people who paid the full price got that rebate. I doubt Telecom would give you about $600 though

Right - spoke to someone on 123 who said there is nothing they can do.

"It is like any electronic product that drops in price" he said. Not happy so I asked for the team leader.

She wasn't around so I asked for a call back - we'll see if it happens....

Can I ask all those who also have lost money on their TiVo to call 123 and complain. The more that do so might mean some action from Telecom.

Anyway, will let you know when this person calls.

Its probably a bit late. But theres no harm in trying eh? I'm sure if you play the guilt card on the right CSR you could possibly get something.

tt

Do you expect that on all things you buy? If a TV sells for $4000 and 6 months later the price goes to $3000 do you expect to be able to go back to the store and get $1000 credit?

We're dealing here with something that has lost 60% of its value in 9 months.

Telecom either were overcharging from the outset or are now just running a fire sale (or both).

I think we have a genuine case for some form of compensation - if only to keep their customers happy.

If you didn't think the product was worth the price 9 months ago you shouldn't have purchased it.

Prices for these sorts of electronic goods always drop significantly over time, that's life.

They have probably dropped the price to clear inventory in advance for a new version/model.

If you have buyers remorse it's not Telecom's fault it's yours.

Yes it hurts, but it is the same with ALL electronic appliances, including if you buy on HP. A friend purchased a samsung LED TV for $5000 last year. Today it is only $2000. So do you think they can go back to the retailer for a refund on teh difference. Apple do the same thing, with their products. You pay a premium to be an early adopter.

The price was always going to drop, thats why I waited. Perhaps they have a new one they are going to release soon, so they are clearing out the old stock. I still don't know if I would buy one at $360.

I would buy at that price, if I didn't have to pay a ludicrous amount on top of this simply to get network access unlocked.

Man thats a great deal! Our bedroom sky box was wrecked last Saturday so I was going to ring them up and cancel our multiroom. If I can get a Tivo for $10 a month on my telecom bill I'll happily do that.

Agreed with most of the comments above, prices drop over time, that's life.
