Have three problems with my Tivo. I am using Tivo desktop plus with Tivo beacon (bonjour simply does not work)

1) Recently started to lose my Network connection to my PC. It is very intermittent. Sometimes I lose access to my movies (via Now playing list) but still have access to music and photos. Sometime I lose complete access. The only way I have found to remedy it is flick my tivo desktop to bonjour (which causes TD to restart) and then back to tivo beacon, and then restart my tivo and voila. Nothing new in the house to interfere with the signal in fact the signal strength is 80%+. Any suggestions what it might be.

2) A longer term problem is the sound quality of some movies I send across - some movies, although they play fine on my PC, have crackly sound when copied to tivo. Waiting for the download to finish does not make a difference? I have tried two films with the same audio codec - one sound is good quality, the other movie crackles. Any suggestions?

3) Another fairly recent problem. is sometimes when we go to download movies off PC to tivo - it simply does not work. We have connectivity but some movies simply will not download. I can go for movie A and it works, then movie B and it does not get added to to do list or start to download (depending if it is first or last in a list of movies). Again any suggestions?

I am thinking of doing a complete reset of my tivo along with a PC rebuild but not sure if it will make any difference.

Hi, I have similar issues with network connectivity. It is really annoying. It appears that mine loses a valid IP address every now and then, and this happens whether or not the IP is static or DHCP. It also seems to not matter whether or not it is over the wireless adapter or over an ethernet cable.

The issue with downloading the files to your PC- is the drive on your PC set as FAT32? are the files bigger than 4GB? This is a limitation of the FAT32 filesystem- I've had the same issue when downloading to portable drives that run FAT32.

As for the sound issues, I have yet to actually transfer files to the tivo from my PC, however I have heard of this issue before and I believe some people suggested using kttmg instead of the tivo desktop software (which is quite bug ridden)

Cheers for the response.

I was looking through all my paperwork I had with the tivo and noticed a small slip advising if I had problems with the wireless usb adapter. It suggested I unplug for 30 seconds. I didn't have to do that because when I giot back home it asked me to reconnect the adapter using the menu system in my tivo. I have not had any problems since.

Tivo support suggested it could be my broadband connection which I think is a poor response. I sent a reply and had nothing back.

I love Tivo but get frustrated with some of the limitations of it and the poor support - I have a feeling it is only a matter of time before I give it up and go to some alternative option.

Will try your other suggestion - I wonder if the sound issues exist if I use pytivo. Will have to have a go and see if it works.

Thanks again.
