First let me preface - I know I'm doing something wrong - I usually do!

I get the "A lineup change has occurred" every day like the other post here. then it just reinstates the channels it had deleted and I clear the message and all is good.

BUT - over the past few months on more than 2 occasions + this morning again.

TiVo completely deleted the entire channel lineup (except for maybe Shine and the Vs - Ch25, & 40 -46) and told me to re scan for all channels. Which I did

Now the "... of Death " part of the post:
The monster then completely wiped all my (about 50) season passes!
It then takes ages
to find and re assign all my season passes and many are missed! And weeks of enduring kids and wife complaining of wheres my program!?

I've tried to contact TiVo no luck - am trying again.

Info:
I usually get 2 frequencies per channel - I deselect the worst.
The higher frequency is usually the best signal strength (over 80)
The lower about 60 - not sure the implications of this if any.
We never have any other issues apart from every morning the standard message and occasionally the Death message

HELP ANYONE - I get in trouble enough at home - I don't any more help from a 2 year old purchase mistake.

Hmm that's beyond me. I assume it is because the low signal stations dissappear then reappear so the TiVo 'finds' them again and announces a lineup change has occurred. We only have the one transmitter in Christchurch, so I can't experiment with it myself (nor would I want to raise the ire of my wife).
As was suggested on the other thread, perhaps you could try blocking the unwanted transmitter by positioning your UHF antenna so that it doesn't pick up the other site, or attenuate your signal so that the unwanted channels are never picked up by the TiVo, bu it can still pick up the transmissions you do want.

There aught to be a way to force the TiVo to ignore lineup changes. Perhaps you should try the OzTiVo mailing list, where the real experts hang out.
https://www.oztivo.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/oztivo
or the OzTiVo forums (where a few hang out) http://forums.oztivo.net

I have had similar problems and had to rescan as you saw in the other post but have not lost my season passes but the guy who sits next to me at work lost his the other day when he had to do a rescan..

There appears to be something up with TiVo at the moment..

+1 on TiVo purchase regret
Here is what TiVo emailed me back after my complaint:

"Hi Mark

Thank you for contacting TiVo Support.

Unfortunately there is currently a problem we are investigating where some users TiVos are requiring them to perform a channel scans frequently. We believe that this might have been caused by the addition of some new broadcasters in various regions of New Zealand. Our New Zealand Operations team is working closely with TiVo Inc US and with the broadcasters in New Zealand to try and get to the bottom of this issue as quickly as possible and bring about a resolution. We apologise for the trouble that this is causing and appreciate your patience.

For any future enquiries related to this issue please reply to this message leaving the reference number in the subject.

Regards,
TiVo Support"

- Unfortunately unlike subscription models (Sky) we have nothing over them to bargain with. They have our money for the unit. We are just a liability now. Not really feeling the love anymore Frown

Aaron and Old3eyes Just trying to look for a similarity here. Do you get any of the following:

1. I usually get 2 frequencies per channel.
2. The higher frequency is usually over 80 signal strength. The lower about 60.
3. My Aerial is a std UHF 7 element with angled wire mesh reflectors horizontally aligned to the Waitaks.
4. When I have to do a re-scan its when TiVo has completely deleted the channel lineup (except for Shine and V1-V6 - Ch25, & 40 -46)
5. After a re-scan I need to reenter all season passes  and the Network Access code.
6. Haven't had any problems physically with the Unit.
7. I use a 1 TB media extender HDD as well.
