Tivos are back at $199 at Noel Leemings if anyone else is thinking of buying.
Seems silly not to buy one at this price, especially now Prime is on the EPG.

Now I have a Tivo I have a couple more questions.

I bought it at Noel Leemings and they told me I must ring 0800 MYTIVO and let them know I am in the Nelson region and they'll give me instructions on an update.... Anyone else had to do this because the Tivo is working OK so far and when I rang up they had no idea what they meant?

Also, can the Tivo tune into non-Freeview channels? We have Mainland TV here and I can watch that in digital on the TV but not on the Tivo which is a pain as I only have one ariel lead and that's now the Tivo box. I was hoping I could record those channels too.

Not too sure, you could do a manual channel add if you know the frequency, this may or may not work as the tivo's although not freeview approved tend to stick quite ridigly to the Freeview NZ rules on what channels it can/can't receive, it is quite common for Tivo's to block channels that are technically outside a broadcast area but can be received or simply not a freeview channel. (A good example, TV33 brodcast to the Auckland area, is also avaliable off the Te Aroha transmitter to Waikato viewers, but has the out of region bit set, Tivo knows it's there, but it is blocked from the channel list, non-freeview approved receivers can tune in no problem)

They are probably referring to the beta firmware that is being sent out now to regions where people get the 'your lineup has changed' message every day.
