Another option might be an APAD netbook. Has anyone experience of these things?

I'm reluctant to consider them, for the simple reason that I already have a laptop, an iPad and a smartphone and the netbook would only be used for SDHC-to-HDD transfers. Between the above devices, I should be able to get what I want without having to buy yet another piece of hardware.

I take a Digital wallet if I'm going for away for extended periods, and taking a truck load of photo's.

Mine is an older one, but still does the job. The biggest advantage is that it has it's own battery, so I can offload all of the images to the digital wallet without needing a laptop or power plug. It has a basic screen, an array of card slots, and a Mini USB socket to allow charging of the internal battery and to access the data.

Mine only cost a few dollars for the case + the cost of the laptop HDD. They were so cheap, I take two away and offload the SD card data to both of them (just in case one poops itself).

Similar to these I guess: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Disk-Enclosure-OTG-2-5-Memory-Flash-Card-Reader-Digital-Wallet-/170889909628?pt=UK_Collectables_HardDriveEnclosures_RL&hash=item27c9d5157c#ht_3634wt_1164

Thanks Spearsniper. I've seen these with HDDs already installed and they seemed ridiculously overpriced for the given capacity, but I've not seen them naked, so to speak. If I can't get the external dock working with my android phone, it's something I'd definitely consider. Cool
