Just though I would share some 5D test footage I shot not too long ago :D

http://www.vimeo.com/16556067

We hired the camera for a commercial I was shooting for Napier Aquarium.

Here is the end product.

Very happy with the camera!

Hi - nice work, thanks for sharing (I'm sure the TVC looks great on a big screen). Did you also hire an underwater housing... or come up with something else for the u/w shots?

Cheers,
Mike

Those 'underwater' shots look like they were filmed in the aquarium, so a housing wouldn't have been required.

I was thinking about getting one of those cameras, but they are very pricey, espeically after you buy the lenses, but produce very professional results.

For the stuff in the aquarium we didnt need any housing because of the glass. Reflections were an issue though. And for on the boat - some of the stuff thats way down low next to the water we used the gopro.

Here is my test footage from the gopro before shooting this http://www.vimeo.com/16532114

A polarizing filter may help with reflections from glass.

Yeah but it was already so dark in there. And we were very limited with how much light we could shove in. As the fish were really sensitive to it.

Well you did well in difficult conditions , as it does look like it was shot underwater in some shots.

Haha nice. I was using Canon L series still lenses. One, 16-35mm f2.8, 24-105mm f4, and a 70-200mm f4.

Nice combination of lenses. Dont really need much more. Would like to get some cine primes at some point... But they are like 10 grand each and up.

And no eye pieces of anything. I was using a Small HD DP6 monitor. Very nice monitor in fact! Plus I used an iKan iLED light for a lot of the tighter shots where you cant fit lights up close to the glass. We also have a few reds and blondes we used for a few of the interiors... But not that many actually. A lot of it was done with the natural light because of the sensitivity of the fish.

The 24-105mm has image stabilising which was a life saver. Really helps you to shoot smooth stuff with limited shake. Although I wouldn't recommend trying to walk and shoot at the same time even with IS without some other kind of support.
