just discovered that my "3 News" series request wasn't recording new 'episides'.  I tried mucking around  with the series settings - for example: record new and reruns - in MCE but to no avail. I then took a look at the XML created from EPG Collector and see the following for TV3:

(substituted /\ for angle brackets)

Setting: Create the output file in a format that can be processed by Big Screen EPG

"3 News"

/programme channel="1302" stop="20130204133000 +1300" start="20130204130000 +1300"\ /title\3 News//title\ /desc\3 News presents comprehensive coverage of global and local news.//desc\ /episode-num system="bsepg-epid"\SE-40793 . EP-T451377//episode-num\ //programme\/programme channel="1302" stop="20130205133000 +1300" start="20130205130000 +1300"\ /title\3 News//title\ /desc\3 News presents comprehensive coverage of global and local news.//desc\ /episode-num system="bsepg-epid"\SE-40793 . EP-T451377//episode-num\ //programme\

/programme channel="1302" stop="20130206133000 +1300" start="20130206130000 +1300"\ /title\3 News//title\ /desc\3 News presents comprehensive coverage of global and local news.//desc\ /episode-num system="bsepg-epid"\SE-40793 . EP-T451377//episode-num\ //programme\

"One News at 6pm"

/programme channel="1205" stop="20130204200000 +1300" start="20130204190000 +1300"\ /title\One News At 6pm//title\ /desc\The nation's leading team of journalists brings viewers the latest news and sport, plus the most comprehensive weather report.//desc\ /subtitles type="teletext"/\ /episode-num system="bsepg-epid"\SE-1017587 . EP-10315849//episode-num\ //programme\

/programme channel="1205" stop="20130205200000 +1300" start="20130205190000 +1300"\ /title\One News At 6pm//title\ /desc\The nation's leading team of journalists brings viewers the latest news and sport, plus the most comprehensive weather report.//desc\ /subtitles type="teletext"/\ /episode-num system="bsepg-epid"\SE-1017587 . To me, it looks like the numbering is identical for each showing of "3 News" at 6pm on subsequent days.  I expect this is the cause.  Looking at the same data for "One News at 6pm" I can see that subsequent showings are incremented sequentially.

Anyone else running into issues with "3 News"?

They seem to be doing it with a lot of their programmes, Nightline for example.

BSEPG probably marks programmes with the same episode tag with a previous broadcast date so WMC won't record them if you ask for new only.

hmm might look into the BSEPG configuration and tweak, or try skipping BSEPG altogether. Seems daft of TV3 to *decrement* the crid numbers for new episodes however....

TV3 and C4 have started broadcasting season/episode number in the description of a lot of programmes which the next version of EPGC will extract and use.

No good for this situation though.
