Ararat: After much messing around, this is what I have found. If I copy just the v2.00.15 executable into an existing, working v2.00.14 directory (overwriting the v2.00.14 executable), I get the same error as above, regardless of whether I use a 'new' ini file or an 'old' one.

If I copy the v2.00.14 executable into a v2.00.15 directory (again, overwriting the v2.00.15 executable), then I can get it to produce an xmltv file, but it looks like something produced by v2.00.14, ie, no HD, Widescreen or subtitle flags, and the old method of titling (ie, it breaks up the title where there is a ':').

btw, I uninstalled, deleted the folder, and reinstalled between tests.

After being flamed for NOT reporting issues with a previous version, here goes with my findings with the new version. First of all needed to do a uninstall again and reinstall, as the installer didn't seem to replace existing files (Probably best considering the issue I had earlier thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Sorry for not trawling through 30 pages of old postings before submitting a post and the fact that your install instructions recommend it.)

I decided to try to use the GUI to create a new ini, Selected Optus D1 then clicked Apply, Clicked Find Tuners (probably not necessary) Selected Tuner No.8 Hauppauge Win TV..., Timeouts left at defaults, My LNB is one of the older Sharp ones @ 11300, so set both Hi & Low to 11300000, set switch to 11800000.

Output File Left as default

Clicked Channel Selection Tab and Start Scan and got No Station Detected - check Signal & frequencies

Saved the Ini File, Opened Saved File. noticed this:
# Default values = 9750000,10750000,11700000
Satellite=1600
Dish=9750000,11300000,11800000

Edited the first frequency, reopened ini File, Noticed the tuner had reverted back to the first Tuner, (DVBLink Tuner #1) tried the scan again, Same issue, What am I doing wrong here? do I need to also edit the 160.0 E Optus D1 xml file?

Anyway, onto my next lets say quirk, It doesn't appear to affect the operation, but does make it a bit more difficult if one want's to exclude a specific station.

I Manually entered the frequencies that I had in my previous ini file and set the scan off, I decided I would exclude a few channels and perhaps frequencies, then I noticed that applications reports all frequencies as the first, although it appears to scan the correct frequencies (I could be just guessing this part)

I probably don't need to scan all of the transponders, that's a list I got off Lyngsat when I first set up and will probably trim it once I have this working properly.

Thanks for the time you are putting into this and making this available for all to use.

The GUI is only designed for new users.

You should simply install 2.0.15 and run it with your 2.0.14 ini file.Your non-edited titles etc was due to the Location parameter missing as you correctly spotted.

No flaming intended.

I suggest you forget the GUI and just use one of the sample files from the Samples directory in the release. Carry on with 2.0.15, you should be fine.

If want just a PayTV EPG use the file called Open TV Satellite NZL.ini. Change the Output and Dish parameters to your requirements.

If you want a combined PayTV EPG and Freeview EPG add the following line to the same file

Frequency:12456000,22500,3/4,H,MHEG5

Give that a try and let me know if you come across any more quirks. I know how frustrating this can be but perserverance is a virtue.

Everbody - the GUI is intended for NEW USERS only.

If you have an existing ini file that works just upgrade to 2.0.15 and carry on running it with that.

If you need to edit your ini file at a later stage, do it manually.

Don't try manually editing an ini file created by the GUI unless we tell you to.

arenet:

PM me your INI file if you like (as is) as well as a brief description of what you are trying to collect and I'll rejig it for you...

As Steve mentioned the GUI produced INI file does not follow the same format as the old style, so simply copying in parts from your old INI won't always work (hence the multiple scans). It is for NEW users only.

Also, from your last post you didn't mention that you selected a scanning frequency after you clicked apply - hence the 'No Stations found' message. You need to select one of the available frequencies from the drop down box.

I cannot reproduce the issue around the LNB settings not writing correctly. Can you send steps to reproduce (in the PM).

Unfortunately I have found a fault in 2.0.15 that affects all OpenTV collections.

If you use this type of collection do not upgrade to this version. We will post a fix on Sourceforge today.

Brad,
Thanks for your help, I am, or/and was aware, that I could just use my original ini file, but thought I would try the GUI out for fun. Can't seem to reproduce the issue with the LNB frequencies not being correct, pass on that, but I still cannot get the GUI to find anything on the channel selection tab, even after selecting 1239740000 which should prodice a file of the pay TV info, I can pm you a file from the windows problem steps recorder.

Thanks

Just tried the latest version which still seems to be having problems combining programs over midnight.

Using the three frequencies being used on Sugarloaf I get three different results - but no total success (would post the bits of the log but was about to do a re-test just before my tuners all became unavailable).

Tried the GUI config and can only think of one comment so far - there is no option to leave the tuner unselected so the first available tuner would get used.

Apologies we messed up the build for this release and some fixes were missed out.

Brad is doing a new build as we speak and it will be up on Sourceforge this evening. It will still be 2.0.15 but will identify itself as 2.0.15a in the log.

I have tested combining programs in the new build and am confident it will be ok.

Again sorry for anybody who has wasted their time on this one.

Steve

The 'new' 2.0.15 is now on Sourceforge.

As I said before it will identify itself in the log as 2.0.15a. It is advisable to uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

Make sure you back up any ini files you want to keep before uninstalling.

Thanks for the work you put into this.

Seems to be working fine with combining programs now.
