Since the announcement of the Chromebook pricing at Google I/O I've been thinking about how much we'll be forking out down here in NZ for these.

Using the iPad ($499US vs $799NZ for 16gb wifi) as a test case we might assume that with a bit of rounding:

Samsung 3G/Wifi
USD: $499
NZD: $799

Samsung Wifi only
USD: $429
NZD: $679

Acer
USD: $349
NZD: $559

At these prices, would you get one?

I think my preference would be for a chrome OS dual boot with Win 7 on my existing netbook if such a thing is possible and an android powered tablet. I dont see the point of another small computer which has no access to good offline software for when you are travelling.

A tablet would be far more useful if you just wanted to have a computer to use the internet, light games and reading on to my mind.

I'd get that samsung one, not going to lie, it's sexy. Lol

Simple, elegant and professional looking. Not in your face, and the logo's are in the corners which I love for some reason, out of the way.

But they said they aren't releasing them here for a while. Said because of the state of our broadband they're worried that we won't be able to take full advantage of cloud services. Seems about right but they could at least try it anyway.
