Topic # 100666 16-Apr-2012 12:13 Send private message

So, Waterfront NZ has now been launched! I would appriciate any tips/comments and suggestions on the site in order to achiev a couple of things, if it isn't too much to ask!

1. How to increase me traffic number. I get between 70 and 120 unique hits per day, but would really like to increase on this. I have tried many different approaches, but I feel like I have run out of gas!
2. How to secure listings.

All other comments are welcome!

Many thanks!

Twitter - chat to people, dont just advertise the site - people are more likely to interact with a real person than what just appears to be a robot spitting out links occasionally.

Facebook - run a competition - something that encourages people to the site (like an easter egg hunt) - the prize dosent have to be anything great, even a $100 gift voucher is enough to get people motivated :)

Thanks XPD. I will look into both of those. I have been using Twitter, but not in the regard you mentioned. So thank you! :)

Oh and I might just add:

Check out the Facebook page, and hit "like". I know it sounds silly to ask, but it really does mean a lot to someone trying to start up a business!

Thanks all :)

Me again Matt.

Just took a longer look around the site. Love the idea and the look, nice and clean and appealing!

A couple of things:

I gather you are doing a mini blog section. Seems the only way to access it is via individual posts at the very bottom of any page. Have you thought of having a link to just the blog overall - I hate having to click on just individual posts when I'm looking for an overall impression of something (speaking as someone who pokes around others blogs a lot ;) )

I only found the About Us section because I googled YOU, and Warkworth - information I gained from your name here on GeekZone, and Warkworth because of the postal address on WaterfrontNZ. You may have it more accessable on the site, apart from via the sitemap, but it didn't stand out to me. I even went to the Contact page in case you linked it from there. I tend to look at someone's site a wee bit to get the feel, then I want to know who is behind it and check out their About Us page.

Mind you both my thoughts may be just because I'd overlooked some obvious links you have up already ;)

Thank you for giving that feed back jevvv. I will look into both of those when I get a free chance at work today. And nope, you didn't overlook any links, I did when creating the site. So thank you very much for the feedback! Will get onto it ASAP.

Any time - I'm no technician but usually when I'm looking at a site I can define what is working for me or not, where other end users just like or don't like without figuring out why.

I'm an InBetweener - between the end user and the tech, interpreting ;)

I just wish I could figure out how to get paid to do it :)

And maybe make the Recent News heading at the bottom a clickable link to http://waterfront-nz.com/category/news-about-the-site/ ?

Up to you :)

That will be a little more difficult to do, but will look into it :)

Would anyone have anyways of making, or increasing the chance of people making a listing? Having a lot of trouble at this stage. I am trying to offer things that Trade Ne doesn't, making slideshows of the property on YouTube, offering it far FAR cheaper, a long with some other services.
