I played with the list page a bit..

It should now hide the left profile bar when you go to list something

Cheers

Excellent, the preview moves when you scroll. It is looking very tidy now.

EdenCoder: @nakedmolerat,

I imagine the billionaire that owns wheedle would take it the wrong way if i asked to team up, considering they have spent a bunch of money on their site and i literally just purchased a domain and coded for a week :).

I would however love to know how they could launch with a website with so many holes, given the financial investment it took to launch it.

Alex

Actually looking at Wheedle, I think they only spent $47.50 to build it so you should be fine hitting them up.

Go NZ!

Hay all,

After adding a bunch more changes to the css and such, i decided adlist needs a blog!

Feel free to check it out for progress on what is happening!

Launched the public beta today,

We will be playing with things, updating things and generally messing around a bit during the process.

If you are to register, do use either 'geekzone' or 'beta' as your promotional code and you will receive a free $100 credit to test our site with!

Should I be seeing any listings? I see nothing.

I expired all the test listings for the beta to be clean and ready..

I can add a bunch of test listings if that will make the beta testing easier for everyone, but i thought it would be better to have everyone critique the actual listing process with legitimate auctions/listings.

Advertise your website or your local company or whatever you want!

Hope that made sense

Alex

You need to clearly state that the password needs to be more than 7 characters.  I get really pissed to find that I've entered all my data only to find that my password isn't accepted.

At least you have the "click to go back option" BUT there's a catch there too which bugs me.  When I use the "Click to go back option" the form contains all the data I had previously entered, barring the password, this is a nice touch. I now enter the password with the required number of characters, but hello!!!! even though the question box still contains the answer I entered previously, the question has been changed so my attempt fails again. Doh!!!!!

By now I'm about ready to give the registration process a miss.

Please make the password requirements obvious and remove the answer from the question box when someone clicks to go back to thus making it obvious the answer needs to be re entered.

Otherwise good luck

P.S. Yes I can be grumpy sometimes  Smile

@Technofreak,

Added the changes to the register field, we are also planning on using JS to alert you on error rather than via the next page with a back link.. Thats a job for tomorrow,

further facebook login works again, tomorrow we will be allowing that to be connected while logged in aswel

Well done on the very quick response.  Like any job, 80% of the effort is in the last 20% of the project.

@Technofreak,

No problem mate, likely i will be doing a hell of alot more of these minor fix's before we transition to a full launch or soft launch.

I do wish someone would actually post something tho.

Anyone know a decent place to advertise a NZ based website? Or anyone know someone running an existing one that could give me some pointers?

cheers

Well, after coding for many many weeks past the original one week deadline (which i had a working script at), I am almost ready to show you guys the final product (which was forked from the adlist.co.nz script and shifted to beta.adlist.co.nz as to stop people playing with a half finished scirpt). There really is only a few minor functions and some cosmetic work to do on the beta of the forked version.

I am expecting/hoping to have a finished (working, i doubt it will every really be 'finished' with new features and whatnot being added all the time) by the 30th of December.

Any ideas as to how i would go about launching this script would be awesome!

Big shout out to DonG for all his help during the development period!
