Hey Guys,

VF ufb user here..

ive been using the cisco srp521 for a while, disapointed that it only has a 100m wan.

I just ordered a draytek vigor 2130 as it has a gbe wan, ( and its open-wrt)

as vf are useless and haven't got a manual on there website for the huawei hg659 and huawei website is lacking some content i cant really compare the two, the huawei is what vf are giving its customers at the moment for UFB,

Im pretty sure ISP's are still handing out rubbish routers to customers but i just wanted to confirm this if i could see some spec of this huawei machine.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The 659 isnt a product that Huawei sells to the general public. We have not really publicized the 659 and just use it as a specialty router. Our main router is the Station thats why you will only see that and the hg556a.
How does it perform?? From personal experience its superior to most RGW's, very quick and has great features.
The 659 does have more features than that Draytek.

Cheers

I have to say I've been very impressed with the Draytek 2130n

I'm unsure what tim suggests are the missing features of the draytek as it offers everything you'd expect like USB storage 3g fallover - if you're getting the vn version then its got voip ports too.

The draytek has excellent qos features and offers multiple vlans too.

I'm sure the huawei is capable device but i'd take the Draytek any day.

I guess the question you need to answer if what your requirements are. There is no such thing as the perfect router.

Wireless B/G/N 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz AC. Can port forward based on MAC address on local network. Limit bandwidth on devices, IPv6, VOIP 2 Ports. Multiple VOIP carriers can be loaded, 4 GBE Ethernet and 1 GBE WAN. 2 USB ports, 2 VOIP ports, Heaps of things. Cant list them all. Thats just off the top of my head. I will see if i can find my manual for mine but i swear that you get one in the box??

Not bagging the Draytek. Good device. I just like the HG659 myself. Also has multicast over WAN to run the Vodafone TV.
