Hello everyone
WxC are pleased to see this forum come to life. While there is so much for us to learn as an industry and even more to understand as a community, we believe that Geekzone is the very best platform on which to start a dialogue amongst Kiwis to begin to scrape away confusion and hopefully clarify how things come together in the brave new world of FTTH and VoIP. WxC has been working with Chorus in new property developments throughout NZ where they have run fibre to the home. The past three years have been an interesting ride to say the least. Not only for us as a service provider but for the home owners who have been accustomed to the old fashion 'Telecom' way of doing things.

This is NOT a WxC forum. It is for everyone and while we will speak from our point of view, we hope that all of the access and service providers will chip in with ideas and answers. You folks at Geekzone are the best way to spread the message and answer questions out there in public. It is no secret that NZ's press do not understand the Next Generation world and for the most part are happy to simply print whatever is in a press release without questioning the contents.

We are going to start by seeding this forum with a Q&A session but rather than hit you with it all at once, the Technical Response Team are carving it into sections so that the dialogue does not get so big that it will be impossible to actually find that content in which you are interested in as time goes by.

WxC and Xnet will not be getting into the politics surrounding the UFB and how it was determined or what it cost. That is not our role. But if you have technical questions or would like some "how to" advice, we will be happy to do our best to help out.

We hope you get some value here and of equal importance, we hope you are able to become part of the "People in the Know" when Grandma's coffee group explodes into a seething argument with dentures flying everywhere on the merits of IP vs analogue telephony and the best CPE to support the codecs she wants to run.

And as new challenges and opportunities come along, will be good to hear your input on them as well. Hope you are kickstarting lots of NZ cloud services too.

Qualified in business, certified in fibre, stuck in copper, have to keep going  ^_^
