Hi all,

My wife ported her Vodafone number to Skinny many weeks ago.  Now we found a problem: she cannot receive online code from the National Bank so she cannot do online payment.  She is using a Skinny Nokia C-01 phone

We have an oversea visitor experiencing the same problem.  She is using a Skinny number and cannot get the online code to be sent to her iPhone 4.

Any ideas about what went wrong?  When can this be fixed?  This is annoying.

Thanks!

At the risk of asking a stupid question, have you reported this issue to the Bank?

Ditto with Kiwibank. I don't use text banking so not a problem to me, but friends on Skinny have passed comment their ported numbers aren't receiving the messages.

Best idea is to contact the bank as they will use a 3rd party vendor for the SMS codes

Yeah contact national bank as it is their issue.

I'm surprised that as a Psudo MVNO that txts don't just work, but it might be the case that the Telecom SMS connections won't take messages for Skinny numbers

Not really sorry, I do have someone working on the design to get this working but we don't have a timeline yet I'm afraid.  I'll post an update when we have a solution.

This issue impacts the receipt of text messages from Application Service Providers who typically use short codes.  These do not follow the same path as regular text messages and whilst Skinny uses the XT network we have our own systems beyond that.

We have a solution agreed that is now going through the process to implement.  However once we have that in place and tested we have to work with the Application Service Providers so that they know where to send the messages.  We will prioritise these for example with Youth Line and Banking at the top of the list.

So whilst we are getting closer to a solution, it is still likely to be a month away.  I can only apologise for the inconvenience it causes.

You can believe it has my full attention though as Mrs LivingSkinny complains bitterly that she isn't receiving her New World coupons.

ASB updated thier smartphone app (both Android and iPhone) over the weekend, it now requires a netcode to be smsed to you to login for the first time. The sms netcode never arrives, rang ASB to see if there was a work around but no such luck.

Any update on when this will be fixed?

No date yet I'm afraid - it has proven to be more complex than originally thought but the team are still focussed on it as a priority (along with MMS).
