The electrical wholesaler pricing model is totally screwed up. They put $12 a meter on the invoice and then give the sparkys a 90% discount on wire etc, so when you see that a PDL powerpoint is $30 or something, it isnt unless you walk in and pay cash and dont get a discount.

Discounts are usually applied after the fact by guys that look after the accounts and base it on spend, account standing etc like that so a sparky who is crap at paying ontime and circulates between wholesalers because they are always ending up on stop will get useless prices compared to one that pays ontime and has a decent turnover.

Do you work as a wholesaler or a supplier to the wholesalers?

I can say this as a fact (at the company I work for) charges a flat 30% markup on their buy price from the electrical wholesaler.

The wholesalers have 2 pricing structers, one for joe bloggs who thinks they know electrical things and buys 3 meters of cable and a 40w light bulb, and another for those with accounts who spend 300k a month.
