Hi,

I'm with Telecom for past 2+ years. I am thinking to switch to flip as the 60GB carryover data looks suitable for me, and is going to save me 30$ per month.
I don't use torrents, but watch flash videos and youtube a lot. How is the streaming speed ?
I believe my Telecom connection is Ultra VDSL and Flip says, ADSL2+. Will that make huge difference ?

Any feedback and suggestions appreciated.

You say that you "believe" you have Ultra VDSL. Typically you'd be sure that you have it; it's only been available for a couple of months and requires a technician to install it.

If you haven't changed your plan in the past couple of months then you'll be on ADSL2+ and would get similar connection speeds with Flip.

This is a question that needs specifics to answer. The short answer is, under ideal conditions VDSL2 is significantly faster than ADSL2+. But we'd need to know your line speeds etc to make a specific comment in your case. As Behodar implies, the fact you 'think' you have VDSL suggests you quite possibly don't. If you haven't specifically upgraded to VDSL, you'll still be on ADSL2+ with Telecom.

You'll typically also need a new modem for VDSL. And a dedicated jack point installed in your house to make the most of it.

Re streaming we have no complaints. Rules of thumb with us is that it will be the same if not faster - we have a very new core and our own international links with capacity to spare.

Flip with 60GB is $75 per month,  which implies that you are currently paying Telecom $105 if you think it will save you $30
But Telecom don't have a $105 plan anymore, so I assume you are on the old grandfathered plans.

If that is the case, then you could probably save most, if not all, of that $30 by just switching to a new plan with Telecom, depending on how much data you actually want to use.

They have

$75 for 30GB
$85 for 80GB
$99 for 150GB

Obviously switching to a new plan but staying with Telecom means no service interruption or other billing oddities which happen sometimes when changing ISPs

Telecom

$75 for 60GB or No Data Cap for $85

We also give you the choice of slowing down to 256k when out of data or purchasing more.

And as mentioned, all our data rolls over to the next month if unused. No contract either.

Thanks all for your replies. It was very informative.
Yes, I was on the old plan with Telecom - 120GB for 105$ (Got increased as, 40GB - 80GB - 120 GB). I never used more than 50 GB.
I changed it to 80GB - 85$ plan with no change to contract or additional payment.
Will wait for any good offers for new customers before switching.

currently switching from vodafone to flip, as of now we do not have internet since last week, it's been ages to keep calling the flip hotline to follow up our internet connection. By the way while we are applying through landline asking for details etc. and after paying the 50$ or less i think they've said that someone will go last friday but no one shows up and call then the agent said he will follow up again this matter. this forum saying the truth flip have the worst costumer service ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
