wanting to know your thoughts/impressions if you own a Panasonic VT50 in either 55 or 65 inch. also others who also have the GT50 whether you had to decide between the two or not. is it worth it getting VT50 than GT50?

I have a VT Panasonic - love it, and others who watch it love it too - the image quality just makes people fall in love with it...although to be honest, I sort of wish that I had got a LED LCD just so that I don't have to worry about image retention - but this isn't any downfall of the screen it is just that I got a panel without really considering how I would be using it.

There truly isn't a huge difference between the VT and GT this year... If I was to buy a 50" GT, I'd no doubt regret not getting the slightly bigger 55" VT50. So much so, that I already have the 55" VT50 ear marked as my next telie :-)

I bought the GT50 at xmas. Wish I hadn't. The plasmas are no good in a room that has even low levels of light. Buy a LED or LCD TV.

So, I'm picking you don't have one. And when you say they're no good in rooms with 'even low levels of light', what do you mean? Is it not bright enough? Is the filter not good enough with reflections?

2011 models are dim. They are probably the dimmest pdps Panasonic has ever produced. 2012 is a vast improvement. I'm waiting for my 60" GT50 to arrive.

I am a retailer(wish to remain anonymous), i've sold all generations of panasonic plasma for the last 8 years with much love and knowledge for the high end of their range. Ask away and yes I have had a good play with the th-p55vt50 and it is a stunner with a few noticeable improvements over last year.

Bigger the better. http://hd.engadget.com/2006/12/09/1080p-charted-viewing-distance-to-screen-size/ The VT50 was one of Panasonic's best 3d tvs they put out. High end not low end.

Image retention isn't a biggie. Just switch to a different channel and it should wipe. Most/some tv's come with a program in the menu, maybe slides type thing, that help with image retention. Image/screen burn is something to watch out for, though most don't have that problem anymore. Be glad you got the plasma. Closest image to real life. Panasonic plasmas of late have very good black levels. Probably the best tv since the days of Pioneer. I broke in my plasma using x amount of colored slides that i ran through my tv for 50 hours and if i ever get worried about burn in/image retention i just run through the slides again.

The earlier Panasonic models weren't so great with the anti glare technology. The G series stepped it up a bit with AR screens. They seem to have fixed the problem with their newer models. Most newer plasmas have a different type of screen that doesn't produce glare.

I've had mine since Friday. Its a buzzer. I'm very susceptible to noise but this goes beyond acceptable limits whenever there is a bright scene. I'll be interested to hear how you find yours. Otherwise, its one hell of a panel...

I have one of the old 42PY800AZ pannys and havent noticed any buzzing. how noticeable is it over normal listening volume when your watching and how far away are you sitting? I was thinking about taking some unboxing pics and first impressions if anyone would be interested.

Comparatively, my old 50" V10 has no buzz until you get your ear within a few centimeters of the back (and even then, its very faint). The GT50 I can hear from 10 ft at default contrast. Increasing contrast into the mid 70s - mid 80s increases the volume of the buzz. This is a problem that will be worse once I calibrate it as default Contrast is lower than what I'll be targeting. Its easily heard with low volume content and the frequency of the buzz changes depending on the average brightness of the content on screen.

Does anyone know if we find the buzzing to severe if Harvey Norman are obliged to take it back and give us a refund or how easy it would be. i have never personally noticed buzzing from a plasma but the buzzing from old CRT TV's drives me nuts. How would you say the buzzing compares? and thank you for your impressions.
