HI, just wondering if any has used the Prolink range of IR components sold by traddetech?

They seem reasonably priced, i had been looking at the blue eye gear, and thats my preference, but the pricing is alot more especially when they charge an extra $20 for black cable over grey/silver.. :( why?

Also wondering what the Prolink longer HDMI are like

Hi

I have the blue-eye system set up in my house and it works fine, especially with MySky which was my biggest issue.

However, a mate has just built a new house and I had recommended him the blue-eye kit especially for the MySky compatibility but then I found the prolink kits from tradetech and he went with those instead - mainly because it was half the cost of the blue-eye stuff.

He has them up and running in his house and everything works great, including MySky.  He used the wallplate receivers and is controlling several pieces of kit in an AV cupboard distribution to several rooms in the house.

Personally I would now use the Prolink stuff because the blue-eye gear appears to be overpriced now there is a local competitor.

I haven't tried their HDMI cables but personally I have bought 20m HDMI 1.4 cables from traders on TradeMe with good reputations for a bit cheaper than the tradetech one and have never had an issue with any of them.

HIya.

Thanks for the details that's useful.  Did your mate use cat5 or cat 6?  and i assume all IR was via a Patch Panel and not direct runs?

Hi again

From memory it was Cat5 cable that was run throughout the house but I'm not 100% sure.

There was no patch panel - all Cat5 was direct run terminated at the wall plate receiver in the other rooms and direct to the ProLink control box in the AV cupboard.

He's really happy with it and especially considering the alternative cost with the blue-eye.

I use one of these and it works well. Running over cat 6 cabling but will run on pretty much anything with atleast 3 wires in it.
I like the fact the that receiver comes fitted with an RJ45 plug so I could just use a spare outlet behind the TV and then at the patch panel (also where my AV gear is located) I could just cut one end off a patch lead and wire it in to the control unit. Makes it really easy to move IR sensors around the place.

Edit: Just a note aswell, my one is controlling the MySky box and AV receiver.
