Hi,
I'm looking for a way to distribute HD a/v source(s) to several rooms around the home, where access to install new cabling is difficult  to impossible. 75 ohm tv coax cabling already exists. With new tv's now including dvb-t receivers as standard, it is seductive to look at using dvb-t for the distribution.

I found videoshare rfht at tvconverters.co.uk -- http://www.tvconverters.co.uk/hdmi-to-dvbt.html which appears to do what I want, also vecoax-wmhd -- http://www.provideoinstruments.com/provideoinstruments-vecoax-wm-series-wall-mount-hd-rf-modulator.html. Anyone with any experience of this or similar equipment? Would it work with mysky hdi as source?

How else would you go about this task? Any suggestions/recommendations much appreciated.

Cheers,
Colin

Greetings Colin,
The link goes to a white paper that is still a work in progress. It does contain a few small errors and a few recent changes are missing but it will give you a good grounding in what is required.

What is your budget? I've priced up a few different systems for DVB-T dsitrubition in the last year and nothing is cheap. That unit you've linked to looks very nice, but have you seen a price for it? I'd honestly be surprised if it was less than $2k or so for it.

Have you looked at using Wifi with HD MPEG4?, or is your source a stream rather than specific files?

@NZWizzkid: Thanks for the link. Your paper is very comprehensive with heaps of useful information. I will be a little while digesting it all!

@sbiddle: Well, I haven't set a budget at this point. However $1-2k may not be so bad when compared with the alternatives for broadcasting to say 3 or 4 rooms. The big  question I need to ascertain is whether the DVB-T gear is fully HDCP compliant and will continue to work into the future.

@wellygary: Mostly I'm concerned with Sky satellite or DVD player as sources, rather than actual files.
