Just found out via twitter that we won't be getting the zt60 series coming to nz.

Really gutted about that.

entirely unsurprised - market for a top end panel here would be tiny and times are tough in the tv business.

Super keen on the new GT model.

Gt is getting replaced by vt so it won't be that bad at all

We don't know yet what Panasonic NZ will opt for. Panasonic US discontinued the "GT" series but their ST is similar to last year's GT and VT. Panasonic Europe has discontinued GT models above 50" but their new ST looks more like last year's ST.

There's still a 42" ST and GT in Europe so it looks promising that we'll get one of them.

If we're lucky Panasonic's mainstream 2014 plasmas should be similar to the ZT60 in performance. Panasonic has a two year development cycle like Intel does so 2013 is a minor update year. The ZT60 was about completing with LG's OLED.

If the ZT was to come into NZ, I'd expect its distribution to be restricted... much like the WT LED lit LCD's.
I strongly doubt Panasonic would like to see an 'enthusiast' panel turning up in a 20 percent off, 30 months interest free sale at Noel Leeming. They could even go 'specialist only' Hifi stores with it? Perhaps we'll see a limited release at some point? Fingers crossed, but with Panasonic saying "No to Asian markets", well, I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeh hopefully there's some reviews out soon so I can decide to get vt50 or wait for vt60

IIRC, the GT20 was a mid-cycle release. It came out well after the other 2010 models had launched. So there is some hope that they could bring it out later into the year or early next year.

Very true, the Samsung 9 series LED's typically arrive very late in the piece too... we should see the 75" soon then!
