Any suggestions for a mp3 player that has a decent amount of storage. I don't want to go the apple way and ideally would like at least 64Gb capacity,
Would also like to be able to play flac files in which case I would ditch the mp3 stuff and use all flac.
All the players sold around Auckland seem to be around 4Gb.

Damn good question and one I will be most interested in.  Did some research last year on this and found http://anythingbutipod.com/  The Cowon brand is highly recommended, although there seem to be complaints they haven't kept up with technology.  I dithered and just use my cell-phone but am still looking for a good, high quality player.  I am somewhat ideologically opposed to Apple and, like you, have most of my files in FLAC. Shame in some ways as the ipods are jolly nice.

Personally I like the Cowon D20 from http://www.cowonglobal.com/ - good sound, plays FLAC, gapless, it just works. They have card slots in them too so you're able to expand the storage.

That looks interesting especially if you can expand past 32Gb, Is there a NZ outlet for Cowon?

Ascent used to stock the Cowon stuff, but don't look to have it anymore.

And the Cowon reseller list looks old
http://www.cowon.co.nz/reseller_list.php

I've still got my Cowon iAudio X5 L 32gb which i must have had now for at least 7 years easily, and that still works really well.

However, with constant use and age, the battery life is becoming a lot shorter.

Good luck with finding a dealer and let us all know how you get on.

MyToys.co.nz (whoever they are) have the Cowon J3 32gb.

Don't know if it plays flac, but does have ability to expand storage.
