I put google calendar entries to remind me to top up my incoming number only phones to keep the numbers alive.

Perhaps the OP can try that for next time?

Can someone please change the title to "A prepay number I once used but neglected and lost has been assigned to someone else" so that it realistically reflects what has happened.

OP's should never be expected to think for themselves when they can just have internet tantrums instead.

this is a slap in the face!

OP is probably writing to Campbell Live, Close Up, Fair Go and Target. One of them will be able to twist it for him.

GrandMasterSaxay: I am still firm with that statement :) You guys are not getting the point so it is of no use explaining, I would recommend the new poster to read all the messages I posted right from page 1. Thanks one and all for the replies, I am waiting for reply from other two geniuses, will keep you guys updated.

Peace

Just read over this entire thread and my personal opinion is as follows:

You didn't top up within 12 months so unfortunately you lost your number.

Anything that occurred after this time does not change the fact you had already lost your number.

The error that was made had nothing to do with you losing your number so this is completely irreverent to your argument.

However you should be entitled to a refund for your $10 top up and perhaps an apology.

That's probably how Judge Judy would handle this case anyway :)

I thought the actual number expiry time is 13 months from last topup and credit expiry is 12 months from last topup

This is how it is on Vodafone and I am sure it's the same on Telecom, I could be wrong

That's not what happened - GrandMasterSaxay never actually used the number!

To those clamouring for an update - be patient and wait.

It's only been a few days since GrandMasterSaxay last posted, but it's probably going to be a wee while before he receives more info he can post here.

As has already been mentioned in this thread The OP stated they topped up online and it went through. The Telecom website topping up a prepay makes it very clear that you are not topping up a mobile you are purchasing a recharge voucher. The sole point of entering a mobile number is so that a text can be sent with a top up code. At no point that I can see has the OP stated that they received a top up code and entered it. Note I am not sure if using "Your Telecom" changes this

The other understanding I have is somebody will correct me if I am wr is that an inactive sim will always detect the network as opposed to connect to it?

Ive never had an inactive telecom one, but both the vodafone and 2degrees ones I have had that have lapsed have shown the network briefly and then got sim registration failed when I tried them in a basic nokia handset. That makes it pretty clear that its not working.
