Op said they didn't have a compatible handset.....so may be the sim had never in a handset until it was tried in store.

Whatever, as it doesn't change the facts. Will be interested to see if there is an update

The other slight flaw in the argument of the OP is this thread he started :   Factory Unlock Service - iPhone and other devices

The guy is offering unlock services but doesn't have a compatible phone with which to put a Telecom SIM into ?

I'm keen to see what he comes back with, but I think he's just on here whinging in the hope to get sympathy ... or here's a thought ... he's in deep poo with the wife/boss/business partner for letting a good number fade away due to neglect and is doing a war dance to show that Telecom are all unjust and evil and stole it from him and it's not his fault!!   ;-)

My bet is that we won't see an update on this story because

1. The OP now thinks the entire Geekzone community is paid by Telecom to side with them
2. The OP won't get anything so there's no reason for an update...

So...no updates then? I'm still curious to see how this ends.

Right...so it looks like there will never be an end to this story? Maybe the original poster found out it was a lot harder than he thought to do what he thought would be easy?

Do the TDR publicly list complaints and outcomes, like courts so we can see precedents that are made, or is it kept confidential? I'm just wondering how many people have dealt with them in a dispute.
EDIT: Just read their website, and see it is all confidential.

The TDR process is not fast. You have to lodge a formal complaint with your provider, and after a few weeks without resolution then you can go to the TDR.

I don't know how much success he would have with the TDR...I personally don't think he has a leg to stand on eh.

And because he's got no sympathy from others around here I suspect there won't be a follow up post from him...

70MK1: FYI - if you top up online (via web NOT via a handset) provided you have valid credit card details it WILL always go through, the online topup does not apply or associate the credit you purchase with any mobile number.

You are given the top up voucher information on screen & a copy of this is sent via text message to the number you nominate in the "receiving your top-up voucher" field

Once the payment / debit is processed you are then presented with the top up voucher information & instructed to call the prepaid IVR (*333) follow the prompts and top up using the voucher.

Below is a screen scrape of this exact process as I tried it just now (replaced mobile number & voucher number with X's for privacy)

Success! You have purchased $10.00 credit.Your GO PREPAID voucher number is: 0XXXXXXXXXXX
This has also been sent by text message to 027XXXXXXX

HOW TO TOP UP
1. Dial *333 on your GO PREPAID mobile phone.
2. Press 1 for 'Topping up your account'.
3. Press 1 for 'GO PREPAID Cards' and follow the voice prompts.
4. When asked, enter your 12-digit GO PREPAID voucher number followed by the # key.
5. The credit amount will then be added to your account balance.
6. Press 7 to return to the main menu or simply hang up.

You may now close this window.

How can anyone overlook this gem?!

Serious question, has he actually signed in to the forums again since his last post?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry: "I do not want to lose this number".

If you don't use it you'll lose it - I swear some people here have a sense of entitlement that would make a dictator blush.

Seems pretty logical, eh.

I'm still pondering what it is we didn't "get" about his story exactly.
