Well, I'll draw a line here.

The Telecom folks asked nicely for some information. I expect the next reply from the OP to have this:

- series of WIRED tests to the Telecom server here

- nothing else using the Internet while speedtests are running

- modem line stats.

If this is information is not provided then I will just lock this discussion as it is not going anywhere and wasting everyone's time.

I'm sure no offense was taken by those guys, they've very relaxed guys :)  However, let's not off topic the thread with discussion about such issues.

Can I suggest focusing on just addressing the questions asked? :)

I think a few of us are actually quite interested to understand why you're not getting good speed test results.

This posting of poor speed tests is getting more and more common and it's actually quite important to make sure that users are posting good (well proven) test information other wise we end up with techs spending lots of time chasing tail and marketing guys having to fend off accusations that the network isn't performing.

Redventurer: Telecom has been really slow here, yesterday it was 0.16 speed... groan... (Christchurch), does anybody know what's going on?

I was online all day yesterday on the corporate VPN and was downloading files at 500KB/s+ over the VPN tunnel which I was pretty happy with.

Have you logged a call with the Helpdesk on 0800 225 598 as there are no known issues that I have seen.

I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

Thanks for your reply, it started about 5 pm yesterday, was ok before that, and it seems to have sorted itself out this morning.

If you were getting slow international speeds, in the last day, then it might be related to the storm in the US, a lot of DC's have flooded causing outages

I was getting a max of 150KB/s to my server in France, when I proxied through another one in Amsterdam I got full line speed ~2.1MB/s
