Came back from 6 months overseas, Nokia Lumia 710 cannot find network.

As in the subject, I was in Canada for 6 months, was able to use my telecom Lumia 710 with Virgin Mobile while there. Just got home and stuck my telecom sim back in and she's a brick, no reception and in the network setup it tells me the phone is unable to locate any network settings. Has my sim been inactive too long?

As I read the question the Telecom sim card was taken out of the phone prior to the Virgin Mobile one being used in Canada. So I don't think CDMA is an issue. JohnR might have something, has the phone been set to 2G or GSM only either deliberately or by accident? I'm not totally familiar with the WP7 Nokia's but the Symbian ones have three settings for Network Mode "Dual Mode" or "3G" or "GSM", it might be worth checking as Telecom is 3G only. I've swapped overseas sim cards without any problems in the past and would expect you to be be able to pop your old card back in without any problems. Have you tried your sim in another phone and or tried another sim that you know is working OK in your phone? HTC One Nokia N9 Nokia E7 HP Touchpad Dell Inspiron 14z i5

Prepaid sim's don't get shutdown until 12 months after the last top-up.. So I doubt that the sim would have been shutdown. I suspect the most likely issue will be you locked your phone to 2G only, or you need to select Telecom as your Network Provider or switch the sim back to TNZ rather than Sponsor in the SIM Menu. I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

Giving up or ending services You may end this agreement at any time for any reason by: simply ceasing to add credit to your Telecom Prepaid Account at least once every 12 months (see clause 8.9 above); I think the disconnect occurs at the end of the 13th month. But couldn't say for 100% sure. In short if you don't top-up within a 12 month period you may get disconnected after that period. I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.
