TELECOM ASSISTANCE FOLLOWING CYCLONE EVANTelecom New Zealand announced today that it would credit customers for the cost of calls made to Samoa, American Samoa and Fiji in the lead-up to and immediately after Cyclone Evan.
The credit will apply to direct dial calls (00 and 0161) made from home phones to land lines and mobile phones in Samoa and American Samoa (from Thursday 13 of December until Monday 17 December 2012) and Fiji (from Saturday 15 December until Wednesday 19 December).
Chief Executive Retail Chris Quin said that many Telecom customers had made calls to family and friends they were worried about in Samoa and Fiji, and he hoped that by taking this step Telecom could spare them the extra worry of a large phone bill at the end of the month.
The credits will be retrospectively applied to customers’ accounts in the New Year, on either the January or February bills, depending on customers’ bill cycles.
The free calling windows will differ by destination and are as follows:
- Between 0:00:01 on the 13 of December and 23:59:59 on the 17 December 2012 for Samoa and American Samoa
- Between 0:00:01 on the 15 of December and 23:59:59 on the 19 December 2012 for Fiji
