Hello i'm a little confused about some of the finer points with changing your telecom broadband plan. 


So i'm currently on Total home Pro (120gb) - $145, 15 days into my billing cycle. I'm about to go over my data cap and don't want to be stuck paying $2 a GB for another few weeks because i'm such a heavy internet user at the moment.

So i'm think of changing my plan to 150GB everyday national calling - $123. Can someone explain to me what happens when i change plans? Is my Data cap reset? Also how am i billed?.

For what I understand someone told me ill be billed at a per day rate for usage of both plans, For example.

145/31 = 4.677 - Per day
123/31 = 3.967 - Per day

4.677 * 15 = 70.155
3.967 * 16 = 63.472

70.155 + 63.472 = $133.6 Total for the month

Is this correct?

Yep, bang on I'd say.

They reset your cap and pro-rata the rates. Pretty decent of them really.

Be aware that you won't be able to switch back to the Total Home Pro package again, as that package is no longer offered by Telecom.

The new plan works out to be cheaper anyway. As I get exactly the same thing but with 30GB more data for $20 cheaper. Plus it only charges 50c per GB over data cap vs the $2 on the total home pro.

Typical telecom to telling me when the plans outdated and I could save a few dollars switching to a new one.

I'm just worried that I will exceed my data cap before its switched over. I could easily go over by 15GB in the time it take the to confirm.

Did you call them? They usually tell you 24-48 hours, but it happens pretty fast.
