Hi guys, we returned to telecom, after more than a year with Slingshot.

I'm shocked to see, the state of the Telecom website.

Half of the links don't work, and the site is just pure plain terrible.

I like the interface, however what's the point of a nice interface, if the links don't work.

I am unable to create a free @xtra.co.nz address, because I get an error message about having an invalid account number, and I know that the account number is valid, because I used it to get other services on the website today, and it went through perfectly.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks

Since you are moving ISPs and changing email addresses this is the perfect opportunity TO NOT USE AN ISP EMAIL ADDRESS.

You can use free services such as Outlook.com, GMail or paid services such as Office 365 and Google Apps with your own domain.

DO NOT USE AN ISP EMAIL ADDRESS!

+1 with MF

If you do have ISP email, then get it forwarding to an external address.

Since having my own domain (over 10yrs now), I havent used an ISP supplied address.

+1 ISPs don't make money from providing email services (has anyone ever joined an ISP because of their email service?) so they tend not to invest. Precisely the reason no Telco in NZ provides Visual Voicemail for iPhone...why spend $XX when it will make you $0. Get your own domain, or use Gmail or similar, I always look at a business sideways when I see an XTRA (or worse Hotmail) address. Yucky.
Plus, unlike number portability, you cannot take your email address with you (usually) when you leave.

I see a Gmail address in exactly the same light as a hotmail address.

Yep Gmail or Hotmail are useful but your own domain is credible.

You see the point I was trying to make though. We use Gmail as a backend for our work domain and it works quite nicely. But of course we don't have XXX@gmail.com on the business cards.
