Just today I am answering a phone call for my client on a landline. The person ringing said his name was Ash from Telecom asking to speak to the account holder by name.
He said he was ringing to ask the person if they would be interested in reviewing their phone packages.
I do not know if the call was genuine. I asked for a staff ID number or a reference number and if I could call someone at telecom to confirm he was not a scammer.
All he said was to call telecom on their 123 phone number.
What was interesting was that the phone number he called was not a telecom account (its snap) but the account holder (my client does have a cell phone will telecom).
If the call was from Telecom, why would they market in this manner especially since it has just come to light their issues with Yahoo mail servers.
