I agree with joker DIY its a bit nerve wracking at start but very straight forward. It will open the android world up for you and the improvement on your phone will be very noticeable.

When I say DIY I'm talking custom Roms not stock and there are a plethora of them to choose from.

Galaxy S3
Wanam 4.2.2

if you use the word custom rom you'll scare these guys away.

what i have teased you with is a stock samsung rom jelly bean 4.1.2, no wipe (retains all your original programs and settings) and all you need is to flash over the telecom modem and you hadn't missed a beat

if you're not on telecom even better, no need to flash any modems the one that came with 4.1.2 is as good as any

you're tempting me! All those SGS3 features are great!
Is the process:
1. extracting the modem from the I9100T rom
2. flash the new stock rom using odin
3. reflash the I9100T modem

?

Only if you're on telecom they have special modem that probably works better than the generic modem on the xt network. Hard to know I don't have time to conduct scientific tests.

On the other two who knows which modem is best but the generic one should do just great

I flashed the stock Rom on Odin and it kept everything. I cannot say if it will do it everytime. Hence the importance of backing up important stuff

When I said lose data it usually means apps and settings. Everything stored in internal sd card is always untouched

Pity it isn't quite as easy as WinMo 6.x. Backup, Download the executable, plug in the fone and run the exe. Reboot and all done.. restore backup..

I'm on vodafone anyway. I'll give it a go and report back.

I've just found out it's currently in testing.  No specific ETA but the plan is to release it for the S2.

I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.
