Network is launching at 6.30 pm on 13th May. Will stores be opening late? (many Telecom stores are in malls where they would normally have no say over their opening hours)

NealR: @exdee Telecom have chsen not to launch with a-gps. I am always interesed in peoples ideas for a-gps.

Makes a HUGE difference to lock times - I really hope if it isn't there at launch it gets added soon after . . .

The list of stores open on XT Network launch night will be announced closer to the day.

Yes, it does. I think if telecom were to sell any device where GPS is a significant feature (eg iphone), A-GPS should be functioning.

Thanks Neal.

Yeah for sure, same with most S60 Nokias, etc

Do we need to start a petition? ;-)

I assume no A-gps means that location based services on the iPhone will not work well or work at all. This would lead me to believe that telecom will not be launching with the iPhone as I'm sure that apple would have this as a stipulation on any contract for telecom to sell the iPhone.

+1 vote for that petition

I've found the difference between A-GPS and normal GPS on both my E71 and other Nokia handsets to be very significant. The difference in acquisition times can be the difference between a GPS lock in seconds mere or waiting for a GPS lock that may take minutes or never actually happen if you're in a poor or non existant GPS coverage area.

IMHO it's a big mistake not including A-GPS capability from day 1 and does significantly degrade the experience end users will have if they want to be able to use map;ping or navigation capabilities.

After consulting with Telecom I've adjusted the FAQ to reflect correct update paths and discount vouchers options.

Your changed FAQ doesn't show the option about the expired contract anymore. Does that mean the customers without current contract are not eligble for the discount voucher?

My contract with telecom ended in March and I just re-signed for 24months about half an hour ago after reading your FAQ last night. I also got verbal confirmation from telecom staff that I will be eligible for $299 voucher. Can you tell me who is correct? Thanks.

I was told only those options are valid. You will be on a contract when the network launches so you should be ok.

As someone who works in a Telecom Retail store I will clarify: Anyone who is within their upgrade eligibility (almost at the end of their contract - check with Telecom for your particular contract) OR anyone who is on a monthly plan and out of contract (say, been on a FlexiMytime for 3 years even though it was a 2 year contract) can resign onto a current plan (ie keep existing phone) and get the $299 voucher. Bear in mind I am not sure if/when we are going to stop doing the resigns. So otagomed, you will get the voucher (assuming you kept your old phone).

Resigns for voucher were only till launch date and must be used before September

It is correct they must be used by the end of September (that didn't seem terribly relevant to what had been asked so I didnt say it).  What I meant by the date is I am not sure if we will, say still be doing resigns on the 13th at 6pm or if there is an earlier time they will cease to be available.

35.Will my [handset name/model] connect to XT Network?

If it supports 3G WCDMA 850MHz and is unlocked, chances are it will work fine. However check a non-definitive list of XT Network support.

Nokia N95 is one of the listed handsets. I understand that the US version will support HSDPA 850 / 1900. Does this mean I can import this model from US (assuming it's unlocked) and be able to use it on Telecom's XT network?
