I thought it would be a good idea to update Telecom’s official representatives for these forums – there are three main people from our Online Response Team (ORT) on Geekzone. They are:
TroyRF - Troy Rawhiti-Forbes
Troy is a Telecom noob, having joined in June 2013 to replace the legendary Richard Irvine as social media manager after a career in journalism. You'll see Troy on Facebook and Twitter posting too many videos of his dogs, plus other weird and wonderful stuff he digs up on the interwebs. Troy's not as technical as the rest of us hardened geeks but he's got connections and can help get stuff done.
tarasutherland - Tara Sutherland
Tara is a Principal Infrastructure Designer. She has been at Telecom for approximately 3 years. Outside of Telecom Tara is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer in Auckland. You can check out her diving blog here.
jaidevp - Jaidev Patel
Jaidev is a Solution Architect mobile. He has been at Telecom for approximately 6 years. He's a home theatre geek and in his spare time build's and repair computers. He's apparently also a indoor cricket fiend.
Other Telecom Employees who post on here in various roles who aren’t officially part of our unofficial ORT team are:
gajan - Gajan Shivanandan
Gajan is the Principal Solution Architect for Mobile in Telecom. He's been involved with most things Wireless in NZ, and several "firsts" from Warkworth to Tuatapere.
Talkiet - Neil Gardner
Neil works in the core network as a Solution Architect. He likes to throw around buzz words like CDN, DNS and POP or any other TLAs he can find. We are never sure if Neil knows what he is talking about, but no one has caught him out yet.
Yyrael - Josh Savage
Josh works in our Call Centre and may be someone you speak with if you ring up 123 and get connected to our awesome service. Very helpful but would typically say “call 123 that’s what we’re here for” if you wanted him to do anything for you :)
Wheelbarrow01 - Simon Woodley
Simon also works in our Call Centre like Josh and deals with Broadband including the new ultra UFB/VDSL stuff. He would similarly say “call 123” or “use the online chat” if you asked him to do anything. But when things go wrong he’s a great man to have on your side.
cbrpilot - Dave Mountford
Dave is the Broadband Solution Architect, so knows pretty much everything that takes you from your Jackpoint to getting you out to the interwebs and everything inbetween. In his spare time he builds and crashes model airplanes.
The ORT is a voluntary group that manages Telecom’s Twitter account (@telecomnz) and speaks for Telecom in forums, social media , etc…
Lots of the Telecom team are active on Geekzone as you can see above and we encourage our people to post. You might find yourself talking directly with an expert or someone working directly on one of our products or services. If you’re Telecom staff and have questions or queries about posting in these forums feel free to get in touch.
If you want to get in touch with someone from Telecom please feel free to contact any of the above. If you want to escalate an issue, we'll need details and a Telecom fault or reference number.
You can log a fault by calling 123 (*123 from your mobile), or emailing http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/ask. There's also:
Land line faults - 120
Broadband faults - 0800 22 55 98
Mobile Helpdesk – 0800 800 163
Business customers - 125
As always feel free to contact me if you have any issues or queries ideally via email as I don't check my PMs as often as my email.
