Topic # 106142 18-Jul-2012 15:43 Send private message

Either I am going nuts, or the GZ forum keeps "unreading" topics for me, and when I click "New forum posts" I get the same topics again I've already clicked on, or even if I've used "reset read flags".

Anyone else noticed this?

Unread is based on last visit on that browser. You should get the NEW indicator reset if you logout, if your session expires (20 minutes if not checked to keep logged in) or if you click the Reset Read link.

The other thing is I can't see a link to stake me to the latest unread reply.  Is there one?

No. There's only one in the email notifications.

cheers... are you planning to add a "oldest unread" link? That would sure be handy.

Never planned to., mainly because do all based on timestamp, not per thread.

Oooh, oooh!  Another opportunity for me to ask!

How about posts never get marked as read unless you either read them or click the "reset read flag" post.  The current timed process doesn't allow me to quickly check something on GZ and come back later to read all the other unread posts from my last full visit.

It would be nice for my GZ subs to be put towards this feature... ;-)

We would have to record visits to each individual thread, managing individual dates.

Could easily code that - the problem is the increase in number of database transactions causing reduced performance, larger transaction logs, large database files.

Fast and furious, or slow and furious...

Would it really slow performance that much?

I know is not the answer, but I have made a small change to the topics list in the profile page. More information here.
