Likewise first time I have seen his thread but have been using the single page view mode and love it, for iPad browsing its great

There you go, only six years to implement it ;)

A lot changed in those six years. Updated databases, servers, better web page content optimization, CDNs. All this together made it possible to implement something like this with little to no impact.
