Folks, here is the competition you've been waiting for: How to win one of three Intel Core i5 processors we have here. You have two different ways of entering this competition:

1. Reply here explaining in twenty words or more what are your plans for your PC powered by a new Intel Core i5 processor. Posts like "I want one" will obviously be too short and invalid. Be creative, it's worth your time. We will draw two of the processors to the valid answers in this thread. Only one entry per person.

2.Use our Twitter integration to post a message telling your friends about this competition. Only entries showing "via Geekzone" will be in the draw. You can send out a tweet a day (no spam!) during the competition, increasing your chances to win. To enter make sure your Twitter account and password are registered on your Geekzone profile, then click here to post your Twitter entry.

This thread is for entries only - no discussion allowed here. Discussion posts will be deleted. You can discuss this promotion here.

The fineprint: The prizes are three Intel Core i5-750 VT, 2.66GHz, 4 threads, 8MB cache, Socket LGA1156 only. The winners will be responsible for ensuring they have the correct system to host the processors. The prizes are the processors only, not including motherboard, memory, HDD, and other peripherals. Winners will be announced 6th April 2010 12pm here on this thread and contacted via PM. Users who have been previously banned and not readmitted do not qualify. Winners will be decided by random draws.

This would give me the impetus to replace the missus' PC before the fans finally fail on it. The whine continues to grow as the old Athlon 2500+ struggles away on her... the quiet of a proper Intel approved cooling system would be a blessed relief :-)

I have a home media server project in progress - that requires a processor update. The current Pentium 4 isn't quite cutting the mustard anymore. This would provide media for my Playstation 3, and home PCs. Its been a while since I last updated the components - but feel this would be big step in the right direction!

Thanks Intel and Mauricio for the chance to win an awesomely flash new Intel Core i5 Processor :)

My plans are to build a new PC for my mother-in-law to bring her into the new decade.  Sadly her somwhat ancient Windows 98SE box doesn't really cut the mustard anymore.

Once her PC is built I'll be seeing about getting her off dail-up as well.  Visiting the mother-in-law for long periods is not fun without broadband.

My Windows Home Server box is old and very under powered, to say the least. We need a replacement and an Intel Core i5 processor would be a great place to start the build! This might end up an HTPC though more than a straight WHS box. Cheers Mauricio and Intel!

My Beloved laptop died on friday. much did I mourn it, and hard did I fight to keep it alive.

throughout the weekend it was on many a machine and much surgery was done upon it within intensive care, although the fight was long and strong... in the end we had to pull the plug.

The winning of this processor would let me build a new greater machine. that would serve as the ultimate remembrance and penultimate monument to my sorely lost but not forgotten friend.

If I win one of these, I'll finally be able to finish off building my girlfriend's desktop/gaming PC.  I have most of the parts ready (from previous setups) and all I'll need to finish it is the processor and a motherboard.  She's decided she's going to play WoW so it'll be great if she can do so at home, instead of hogging all my precious gaming time!

I have no sob story or perfect reason for having one... I just want new toys, especially gadgets, and this fits that bill perfectly!

I cheaped out and bought an i3 instead, I could crank that i5 puppy up and get some cancer curing ( folding@home) going during the winter to keep my room warm!

I have just completed DIY wiring our new-build replica 19th century colonial villa, with 21st century Cat6 ethernet cable. I have plans to host a new HTPC in a designated comms cupboard and stream movies to an NMT (Prob a Popcorn Hr A200) in the lounge - but my current fileserver (c.2003 2.53Ghz, single core, 3Gb RAM etc) is not going to be powerful enough. With one of these babies at the hub, I can design and build a new PC fit for the job.

See for photographic updates of the project

I want to teach my son how to build computers and it will go to good use when we assemble his own computer.

I don't have a home theater pc and I've always wanted to build one but I am always short in budget.  If I win this i5 processor, it will be a bit easier to justify to the wife the need to build a new computer.

Hmm, let me see - two boys who are computer mad and are rapidly wanting to expand their horizons when it comes to gaming. The 4.5 year old Dell that they got second hand from me is creaking at the seams and a new, grunty proc would be a good start to a system that can handle their increasing gaming/social/interweb requirements :)

It would allow me to upgrade my PC to more quickly run zombie survival scenarios - a must have considering there seems to be an impending invasion.

A friend of mine is in dire need of a new computer, he's currently running Windows 95 with something like a 486DX 66MHz processor (built in the 90's) and 16MB of ram, this new i5 processor will definitely be a great start for us to begin building a new computer for him.

I'm building a new system to be implemented in our current proposal for a local government department. Its a totally new business model, pushing the boundaries of todays wireless solutions, so any help for the initial test case would be much appreciated! I can give you more info on the project, but for IP reasons not in a public forum!
