Hi I am bringing in to NZ some Chinese Android upmarket mobiles. They claim GSM QuadBand 850/900/1800/1900MHZ WCDMA 2100/850MHZ, but I am always dubious of the source information from China. In any case, I am going to be doing a video review on the product, so want to be as accurate as possible.

Short of getting a spectrum analizer, anyone know if there are methods to determine the frequencies/spread of any particular mobile?
I believe there is a system information menu which is accessible by entering a particular numeric sequence in to the dialler, but a) this might result in Mandarin information, and b) I dont know what the keycode is.

Is this directly related to Vodafone NZ or should it be going under handsets on GZ?

We can only work off what you post but this is what bands the Vodafone NZ network supports

A spectrum analyser isn't going to be able to tell you what frequncies the phone is operating on unless it's connected to a network. Your best bet is to eatablish the frequenceis from the manufacturer.

A phone that does 850/2100 isn't going to give nationwide coverage on Vodafone anyway, it will only do so on XT.

The gsm band are fine but voda uses 900,2100 for 3G but I believe for most parts of the country you should be fine(with2100mhz) but this phone would be great for xt network.

The GSM bands working on Voda will depend where you are. Where I live in Tauranga there is no Voda GSM but good 3G.. But as it has been said above it will work fine in Telecom and Skinny..

There are plenty of areas over the last few years that only had 3G coverage deployed, whether this be 2100 only, 900 only, or a combination of both.
