sen8or: I suspect that Vodafone have analysed the useage of broadband plans from a broad spectrum of their customer base and 80gb is most likely the cut off point at which the "average user" would not exceed. This is also their bread and butter, their most profitable user base.

The users who demand (significnantly) more per month most likely are not their most profitable customers and in most likelyhood, not that big of a loss for them to jump ship. They are also most likely to be the least loyal and happy to move on to the next big thing at the drop of a hat.

Just my own personal guess

really don't agree with this, i am a high user, loyal and happy vodafone customer and i pay about $200 a month across my services if i double my data. i am just unhappy with the deal i currently have on naked as the plan (data/price) does not suit me. i am on a single/low income and there are a lot of other things in life that needed to be paid for.

i have been with vodafone for internet for over a year as i decided to have a change -i was previously with telecom for 5+ yrs (for internet/home phone). i would rather stay with vodafone but if i am not being offered a plan more suitable/affordable i will be 'forced' to go elsewhere.

so far i havn't been offered anything (naked) but have been advised to wait which i will till the end of this month -June.

(i have also been a mobile customer of vodafone for about 12 yrs)

....AND i think ALL customers should be appreciated, implying that ones that pay less aren't valued is just really off-putting (and not a company i would want to be loyal to)

So, my data went from 120 to 160 with the extra 20 gig doubled.
Now it has gone down to 140, what gives?

hmmm pay less, if you include a average internet cost of $60 - $100 + cell average $95  per  month that ain't biscuits.

so yes end of the month will tell .. 20gb or worse won't be keeping me as a customer

i stuck it out for 2 months with xnet when they pulled this string me along crap .. so im not surprised with vodafone. Soon != 1.5 months.

looking at the new tv ads for naked broadband, i highly doubt that the cap will be increased by end of this month. it might be something else on the table but definitely not data caps

Hopefully they are good... And can justify Telecom's 120GB Usage and Orcon's 200GB...

Looking at the telecom site, 120gb of data will cost $105 - $115 depending on where you live. Orcon was showing a $235 cost for 200gb of adsl (although cheaper for genius or orcon fibre?)

If I had to guess at "the next big news", could it be a cheaper data bundle than $30 to double your data?

One of the things I liked about telstra was their bundles, although they weren't cheap, you could manage your useage appropriately.

Time will tell I guess

Hope this is true! Been waiting to see what they have for nDSL customers :) currently the $30 discount having a Vodafone on account is whats keeping my partner on an old you choose 30 plan.   All the solid low use deals are on Prepay now so if the numbers don't stack up then both accounts will be going I reckon!

[offtopic] No idea why Vodafone don't have cheaper mobile plans than the Smart $45.  I mean, if the Smart Prepay deals were a post paid service that would be awesome! And we'd more than happily stay with Vodafone for her mobile and our internet [/offtopic]

I was rung up earlier tonight by a Vodafone CSR about a different issue, but I asked him what else to come - and was told about some of the rumors going around the office.

Not so much specifics, but generally they were around value-added services changes. Fixed line and broadband have already got their data upgrade. More value will be around other services.

Thats probably as clear as mud, but I kinda get at what they indicated - and take this with a grain of salt, as I was told a couple of times that it is only rumors in the office, nothing official.

Nothing yet. They should sack their entire marketing dept. as through these forums and their own, people are really starting to get annoyed and some have already left Vodafone over this secret drip feeding.

Unlike us, most people do not visit this or their forums and would just look at the offering and would have thought VF's offering was weak and not value for money by now. They would not know that allegedly there is more to come.

+1 What PEOPLE are interested in when they are with an Internet Company is Internet DATA. We want DATA. The extra 20GB does not suffice, SNAP quadrupilicated their Data! Telecom is now at 120GB! We want DATA, we are Vampires! We want Data and we want it now!
