Jaxar:The Huawei HG556a is not network specific either in its routing or modem components. The only network specific features on it are the ones that allow VF to provide greater tech support to it. e.g. syncing the username/password automatically.


Cool, so I could potentially sell it on if i left VF and had to pay for it.

I couldn't do jack with my Telecom one, even making it into a wireless AP required a degree in software engineering.

I think that Vodafone have targeted 90% of the market with their offering. They've been going down a bundled strategy for some time - offering best mate sky and discounts on naked if you have an on account mobile rather than the biggest data caps on mobile or fixed broadband.

I think the offerings they have are pretty good and can see the value provided by the best mate offering especially if you make lots of toll/mobile calls to family.

If you compare the choice pack with Telecoms Total Home Light you get significantly better value with Vodafone.

What they haven't addressed is their high end data offerings - they effectively don't have one. I would be happy to pay more to get more data but I don't have the option. I'm on Naked and we use most or all of the 120GB (ie we double every month) and would like to buy more data. Vodafone have chosen not to offer to sell me more data and there lies the problem.

Let's try and keep things civil though. I can't see moderators tolerating bashing. The people who represent VF here aren't responsible for those decisions and shouldn't be held personally accountable.


i have mentioned this earlier in the thread. looking at the new ads for naked broadband, there is no way they will increase the data cap.

maybe it is true that there is some limitation that stop vodafone from offering more data (?bandwith)


There is no reason of that nature. It's infeasible that a company VF's size couldn't get bandwdith if they wanted it.  I suggest the people who are unhappy should make themselves heard through the correct channels (not endlessly whining here).


err, i would think this is the perfect place for ppl to voice their concerns about the plans they're on & discuss their experiences with other customers, and if you see others as 'going on about it' unfortunately you have to jump up and down at times or nothing will get done for you. i personally havn't seen anyone as 'going on about it' but have only read the last half of the forum? and i'm sure vodafone must come to threads like this and see what their customers are saying about them!.

Well looks I was luckier than someone :)

Yes I told them straight away when connected that I'am switching to other ISP and the representative suggested I have a chat with their CRT (customer retaining team?)

I told them that Telecom did a flyer drop in our area (which they did) trying to entice us to move to them.

Telecom offered 2 months free, 120GB of data, free antivirus, free calling number and something else that I can't remember now.

I said that I wanted cheaper double data and after 5 mins of being on hold, was advised of their offer.

so there are some new plans being offered at vodafone? are they naked? where can i see them?
i usually struggle/hold myself back on 60Gb, this month i doubled and have used approx 130gb in 3 weeks and have just had my renewel of 60Gb. i still feel as though i am holding myself back and imagine i would need at least 200-250 Gb???. does anyone know the cheapest deal for around that amount pls?, -i imagine i will be leaving vodafone very soon :/

I don't think it is a threat; I just said I wanted to switch because I was not happy with the plan.  didn't even ask for a better deal from them before he suggested I spoke to the CRT

I find these new plans underwhelming. I can't believe I held out this long waiting to see what they were going to offer.

I'm going to pay $15 more a month (paying VF $100 for so-called Ultimate Pack for 80Gb/M) to get 255G data a month plus landline.

I simply regretted having wasted another month


I moved to a new neighbourhood at the same time and the wiring in my new place is a mess so it would be unfair to compare the two. But I also have a friend a few doors down from my old place on snap and he was getting the same speeds I was getting on vodafone if that helps? ~11Mbps down
