Yes, the smart $25 is now $6 overpriced in comparison - and 2d give you more data!

Game on!  (I hope!)

It's not always just about the plan. Vodafone customer service from their stores is appalling and call centre service is variable (to put it politely) but their people here and on Twitter just can't be beaten. 2Degrees service when phoning seemed a lot better by comparison. BUT, I'm very happy to be back with Vodafone. The deal they offered wasn't great but was adequate. I'm paying a bit more than I was on 2Degrees and I don't have rollover minutes or shared data.

What I do have is a service that hasn't failed yet, where connection is reliable, where SMS messages get through, and coverage in areas that were dead to me before. The not-so-obvious benefit is that my phone battery lasts a lot longer. I suspect that's because my phone is no longer switching several times a day between a network and roaming.

Sometimes, you just have to weigh all the pros and cons and take the option that best suits your needs. I'm glad I tried 2Degrees as it was a worthwhile experience to find out what the coverage was like and if it would work for me. It didn't and I'm happy to be back in the Vodafone fold. An adequate plan that you can rely on beats a great plan thats not always available.

I had a similar experience when I tried out 2Degrees in 2010 but I was a heavy data user and I came across a (maybe common) problem that while I was using data.. messages and calls wouldnt come through. I had a motorola milestone that time which was a pretty decent android and I was told that thats a phone problem and not their network issue. I guess they were still ironing out lots of issues back then coz they had just started.
So I came back to vodafone at that time.

And now what happened to me was totally adverse and I wasnt getting enough vodafone reception at my place so I had to opt out of it and I tried 2degrees and they had (maybe) fixed the issue of calls not getting through while using data. And now I am a happy 2degrees customer.

So yeah its not always about the plan, its mostly about convenience as well.

From another thread:

Dingbatt: I see in this morning's paper that Vodafone are offering $19 50/5000/500 prepay extra. But only until 31 October. Christmas offers will cut in after that I assume. Not enough to tempt me from 60/5000/500 I'm afraid.

Anybody know how to access this new prepay extra plan?

"Upsized minutes, TXTs and data on Prepay Smart 19 Data and Prepay Smart 19 Talk are available until 31st October 2012. When your Add-On renews after this date they will return to their standard size. Standard sizes are currently: Smart 19 Data ? 30mins, 300TXTs and 300MB and Smart 19 Talk ? 60mins, 300TXTs and 50MB"

Dang so returns to the old good and properly. No carry over if already on. I guess anything can happen between now and then, hopefully.

Telecom "The BIG Value Pack is only available until 31st October 2012. If you top up the required credit each month at your renewal date, you can keep the BIG Value Pack on an ongoing basis! You can cancel it anytime."

So Telecom carry over.  Vodafone are only doing it for 2 cycles really then.  I come off plan 2 Sept, so have 2 Sept, and 2 Oct then it's back to the dungeons for me!

Make the switch now to telecom or 2 degrees..

I was with vodafone a long time and I know the sense of loyalty to the company kicks in sometimes.. but you have to look at your pocket as well.. you dont wana be stuck paying more and getting less after 2 months..

Stuck on a Voda world.  Have Nexus one, so no 850MHz, and can't justufy new phone, as I would probably want Galaxy S 3.  2Degrees don't have reception in some areas I want inside zone and also 2D don't get Tweets or Facebook Via Text.  Twitter texts I use for quakes and Civil Defence etc.
