Hi there,

Would the Nokia Asha 302 model work (http://www.nokia.com/nz-en/products/phone/302/) on the Vodafone network? ie. send/receive txts; make calls/receive calls; connect to their 3G broadband network.

Asked on the Vodafone forum, but the answer gave me specifications about their network. Not sure whether they match with what the Nokia Asha 302 phone is capable working with.

I posted to the specs for the Vodafone NZ network so you can check against the specs of the handset

http://www.nokia.com/nz-en/products/phone/302/specifications/

I am not going to come out and say yes it will work cause if you then purchase the handset and have issues I don't want you coming back to Vodafone saying the handset does not work correct on our network

From the Nokia website

Frequency bands

GSM 850
GSM 900
GSM 1800/1900
WCDMA Band V (850)
WCDMA Band VIII (900)
WCDMA Band IV (1700/2100)
WCDMA Band II (1900)
WCDMA 2000
WCDMA Band I (2100)

It is known of Nokia to build more than one handset of the same model like the Nokia E71-1 , E71-2 , Nokia E71-3 and each model uses a combination of the mobile bands

Hi

As John said certainly check the Model closely. I was looking in Parrallel Imported for a cheap telecom 3G phone for a friend and was advised The Nokia Asha 302 was the cheapest available. As this model was for Telecom I doubt it would support Vodafone 3G outside of the 2100mhz frequency.

All is good. I rang the NZ Nokia phone number, and the support person checked and verfied that the phone is indeed compatible with the NZ Vodafone network. Of course, if something goes wrong, it is Nokia who I would go to.*

Of course though I would never start taking issue with Vodafone if I had issues with the phone while on their network, when they cannot verify that it would work.

And people who do that, well - they shouldn't.*

*UNLESS of course they cannot say it will work on their network, and SHOULD the phone be able to work on their network, and doesn't - and it is established there is no phone fault - then you would go to Vodafone.

Have the phone. Had it up and running since Tuesday. All working good. No issues at all.

(apart from Nokia configuration issues, which I contacted Nokia about and got sorted, nothing in relation to the Vodafone network)
