I have the standard Vodafone ADSL2 Hawei modem with all-red lights which has stopped functioning.

Symptoms are
Power Light on
Internet light on and solid red as though connected to VF.
WiFi light off
All Ethernet Ports Dead [no lights and no data throughput] so I am not able to access it via the laptop as I would normally and no connected devices have any conectivity or IP addresses assigned.

I was able to factory reset it on Sunday when it first happened and set up the way it was and it was good for about 24 hours then it happened again last night but this time no amount of holding the reset button would trigger a reset and the two lights just stayed on.

When I turn it off and on, only the two first lights as described above ever come on instead of all the lights flashing on at least once and the usual clicking noises are absent.

VF are sending me out a new one today hopefully but in the mean time I wondered if this was a common fault that can be rectified even temporarily.  Would like to at least use it until the replacement arrives.

Can you get into the modem on 192.168.1.1 ? If yes I can send you a link to .bin a file that may help 10.4MB

edit: use user name and password advanced / advanced

No, first thing i tried was logging into it but in its current state all of the ethernet ports are dead, nothing in or out. Even the port lights are off.

Ah well, a replacement is enroute as far as I know.  I just hope I don't have to go collect it from the post office.

I had exactly the same issue a few weeks ago.
Couldn't reset, couldn't log on the console, wifi dead ethernet dead.

Power and ADSL light solid red, but when I contacted vodafone they couldn't see any activity on my line so I would say ADSL light was wrong...

I had already flashed the firmware to version 37.

Borrowed a modem from a friend and new Vodafone modem arrived a few days later. 
Haven't had any issues since then (but that's only a couple of weeks ago).

Yep, exactly the same from the sound of it, except I have never flashed anything on it.  Sadly I have no alternative modem except my old Telecom one which seems to require a degree to reprogram for anything else.

The only issue I had with my HG556A when I first joined Vodafone naked dsl is that the wireless was intermittent on it. They sent me a replacement and have had no issues with this one in the nearly 11 months I have had it.

The wireless drop out issue is resolved in the latest software for the modem
