Topic # 113609 22-Jan-2013 13:02 Send private message

Hi a bit of back round first.

I used to live on Rosier rd in Glen Eden and got 15mbps down and 1.36mbps up, then I moved.

At my new house(Oratia, west coast rd) I only get 2mbps down and 0.76mbps up. I'm sure my old house had ADSL2+ and my new one has ADSL.

Both houses are on Naked broadband both fixed internet connections, my new house is also in the Final RBI coverage and I have a couple of questions:

1. What does final RBI coverage zone mean? When will I get faster speeds in my area?

2. Will vodafone give me fixed broadband if RBI is enabled? or will it be that stupid low capped wireless broadband with low data caps?(I use 160GB a month normally, so I want fixed broadband  which has higher caps and cheaper)

3. Will it be ADSL2+ or even ADSL2?

4.I have no bars in my house right now, does vodafone have plans for new towers in Oratia, west coast rd auckland?

Hope JohnR can tell me anything.

What does the Chorus SAT tool say for your new address and please post modem stats

http://www.chorus.co.nz/sat

Future RBI work / plans is covered here on the Vodafone coverage RBI page

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/about/media-centre/rural-broadband-initiative/coverage/

If you can get ADSL now at home and need mobile coverage check out Sure Signal, I even have a unit you can test with for a week if you like

Flick me an email / PM with your address and contact details if you can. I know the area well, and I can help with fixed line and RBI options.

Cheers
Fraser

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

What about people who aren't UBI or RBI.

My ADSL2 is good but the lack of good upload speed is an issue for remote working.

What upload speed are you getting?

Direct from chorus.

"This address is in an exchange area where the exchange has been upgraded with faster broadband equipment.

However please note that this address is outside the optimum coverage area for faster broadband - which will affect broadband performance at this address"

Anyway to make it faster?I just want a minimum of 5mbps down and 1 up(15 mbps would be preferred)

Sure signal is an amazing little device thanks for the tip.
I am in the final RBI coverage zone, Does this mean speed should improve soon or I will have to wait for 2-3 years?
Also does vodafones's RBI plan help fixed broad band speeds? because I refuse to pay for such low data caps at such high price with wireless broadband.

Sent, but I need a data cap of 200GB at 105 bucks, I will pay for the installation fees if you can seriously boost my speeds.

The time approx you need to wait is covered on the RBI page when you put in an address but can change

Vodafone is building the mobile RBI network and this does not impact fixed line speeds

Is telecom the one improving the fixed line infrastructure?

As linked to above Chorus is doing the fixed line RBI and then you have retailers like Vodafone, Telecom, ETC that sell the product at retail

Telecom is not Chorus and Chorus is not Telecom
