Please help us with your eye for detail.

Every post, on this forum thread only, of a unique error on our website www.bw.co.nz will go in the draw to win a Palm Centro worth RRP $600 or only $500 to B+W members. We aren’t fussy; Typos, tech inaccuracy, punctuation, broken links the lot.

The winner will be chosen at random by Mauricio (sorry mate means you can’t enter, neither can B+W staffers and their families!)

All posts submitted by Monday 3rd November 10pm NZDST will be entered into the draw. If you want to triple dip we are doing the same on our Facebook page and B+W Blog. So yes there are 3 Centros up for grabs. You can submit the same error in all three places and have three bites at the cherry. You can also submit as many errors as you like.

We will ship the Centro to a New Zealand address nominated by the winner. Our decision is final and we will announce the winner’s Geekzone ID ONLY once claimed.

We will send the winner a private message via Geekzone messaging. If the Centro has not been claimed within 48 hours of us notifying the winner we will  redraw.

Cheers,

Johnathan

number & mobile serial number ( Dec ESN) if with
                                              ^ space starting bracket

On that same page there is "Content" showing at the top of the "How should I use my mobile responsibly" section.

Unless it's supposed to be there....

Not sure if we are supposed to put multiple errors into one post, so I will anyway. If it means one entry, thats all fine with me.

Back when the site was just two pages, one allowing potential beta users to sign up, I emailed the webmaster listed under the meta tags on the sites pages, explaining that Rotorua was not spelt "Rotarua", as was listed in the site's meta tags at the time. Does that count?

The FAQ page
How should I use my mobile responsibly? - Last sentance needs a full stop.
Also, just before this is a sentance "And if you receive anything threatening, contact the Police immediately.". It is considered bad practise to start a sentance with "And".

I need Black + White Mobile Phone Settings? - "Or, You can input the below settings manually if you know how to do so." - same problem as the "and" previously. "Or", in best practise, would best be replace with "Alternatively".

Tell me all the detail about Black + White Email? - Under this heading there are that many full stops required, that I can't be bothered listing them all :).

How does Black + White Voicemail work? - All sentances "Follow the voice prompts  to listen to your message." need the double space fixed beterrn "prompts" and "to".

Where can I Roam Internationally? - Last sentance requires a full stop.

How do Included Texts work? - Two sentances require full stops.

Overall, throughout the FAQ section, it'd be great to see paragraphs either seperated by one OR two lines, not the combination of both that are currently being used.

http://www.bw.co.nz/docs/BW_Roaming_Rates.pdf - The "Circuit Switched Data" column - The data appears inconsistant. Some say "$None" and some say "$n/a". To any Joe Bloggs user, they would appear to mean the same thing. It is best to keep using the one set of terminology all the way through.

Also, under Japan (page 4), one is listed as "$?". Not a great look to the public, if it appears you don't have all the information, yet you're putting it out in the public arena.

Yeah, sorry, I'm an ex-librarian.

"Telstra Clear" should be "TelstraClear" (get the names right! Smile)

http://www.bw.co.nz/faq/106
http://www.bw.co.nz/faq/66
... (could be more around the place)

Missing opening bracket: "3. Take the back off your phone and check that your SIM card hasn't slipped out, it doesn't have to be out much to stop working.)"

http://www.bw.co.nz/faq/121

No link to "www.mobilefonerepair.com"

http://www.bw.co.nz/faq/113

"Vodafone Best Mate(tm)" should be "Vodafone BestMate(tm)"

http://www.bw.co.nz/faq/search/?faq_srch=h100

Terms of Use:

"6.1 We may add new Products and Services, cease to supply Products and Servicesand change Products and Services at any time without notice."

Link "Join us" has blue underline, other links around the place don't, so I'm guessing it's not intended

http://www.bw.co.nz/content/about-us/

That's it for now.

3. Voicemail

Calls will only go to your Voicemail if your phone is turned off or you have "diverted all calls to Voicemail”. If you do not answer or reject a call, it will not go through to your Voicemail. You will still receive free text notification of voicemail messages while you are roaming.

Since you're just piggybacking on Vodafone's network I'm guessing this is not entirely correct. If you are roaming to a network that has a voicemail call return path calls will return to voicemail. If it's a network that doesn't support call return then calls will just be disconnected. If you're roaming to Australia or to most Vodafone European networks you will find this works.

Presumably (like Vodafone's policy) this will incur regular inbound roam forward charges for the length of the voicemail message that is left?

Front page, links at bottom left - some have all the words in the link text capitalised, some only have the first word capitalised.

Not consistent.

I do not think either a hyphen, or any type of dash, should follow another punctuation mark.

e.g. What is Black+White? - About us

"Webmail" is sometimes stated as "WEBMail" in the Terms and Conditions.

In the FAQs section:

Will my current mobile work on Black + White?

If you currently have a mobile working on the Vodafone network chances are it will work on Black + White. If you currently have Telecom or Telstra Clear mobile you will need to buy a new phone. As a Black + White member you get exclusive access to buy mobiles from us anytime at near wholesale prices. All our phones come with a full manufacturer's warranty.

If you have a Blackberry working on Vodafone chances are it will work on Black + White but you will not be able to receive email. However check out the Black + White Email service which comes Free with our Email data plan. This will allow you to get email on your compatible mobile.

For the techo's: GSM Dual band or better phone using the 900Mhz frequency; for 3G services you need a 3G UMTS or better phone using the 2100Mhz frequency.

TelstraClear is officially a single camelcase word.

Also in the FAQ's section:

How do Included Texts work?

Plans may have an included texts allocation.

You can call Member services on 990 free from your Black + White mobile to find out how many texts you have left.

Included texts only apply to your applicable national text messages. That means you can't use your included texts for international texts, premium texts, special or short code texts

Included texts are allocated per billing month. They cannot be carried over from one billing month to another billing month.

Included texts expire on termination and any unused texts will be forfeited on disconnection

A couple of full-stops short.

A little picky but still a mistake here

"If you are a Black + White member purchasing a phone only the discounted price will be
applied once you enter your Black + White Mobile number on the following page."

It could instead be

"If you are a Black + White member, purchasing a phone, only the discounted price will be
applied once you enter your Black + White Mobile number on the following page."

or

"If you are a Black + White member, purchasing a phone only, the discounted price will be
applied once you enter your Black + White Mobile number on the following page."

or

"If you are a Black + White member purchasing a phone only, the discounted price will be
applied once you enter your Black + White Mobile number on the following page."

or

"If you are a Black + White member purchasing a phone, only the discounted price will be
applied once you enter your Black + White Mobile number on the following page."

(Note The commas bolded and underlined)

I'm pretty sure all my suggestions are right...

Already beat you to those, although I just mentioned the section, and the fact full stops are missing, I didn't quote all the text.

On the "contact us" page (http://www.bw.co.nz/content/contact-us/), in the "Blog" section down the bottom, it says "Various click here for a list", which is strange wording (perhaps it should be "Various - click here for a list").

More importantly, when you click that link, you're taken to the FAQ page with a search for "blog", which shows an item labeled "Blog", which the user must click to expand to get the list of "blogs". The user shouldn't have to go through all these steps just to get a list of these sites, especially having to expand the "Blog" item. It's also not good that the search bar is shown and the title being "Frequently Asked Questions (as a consequence of it being a search for "blog"). The "blog" links should be direct on the "contact us" page.
