PhilipH: Any support issues for 2Talk we can probably help

Nice.

Nice to see 2Talk resellers stepping up to help people with the product.

I'm also a reseller, but have been a bit slower off the mark and had a great deal of help from the VOIP community here.

People such as SteveB and the XNet guy (who's name escapes me right now) have been fantastic help in the learning to get more people up to speed with VoIP.

Given how complex the space is, but also worth while, I really feel pain when I see people turning on each other like a pack of wolves - it's simply not required guys.

Please, let's all try to remember what the end game is here - "Everyone having a slice of the pie and enjoying being part of the game!"

The market is massive and telephony is still a growing business every day.  We really do not need to be abusing each other and ranting on about who's make more or less posts!

/rant.

Hey Don

Nice to see a voice of reason. Thank you very much. All I did was offer 2Talk clients some FREE help if they needed it, as you say it's nice to be helped re matters VoIP from time to time.

Anyways Don I've had my fill of cyberbullying just don't need it.

If you are ever around the Pakuranga area do give us a call, drop in (we have a wicked OJ in the fridge). We love talking VoIP to other VoIPologists
Cheers

I've banned PhilipH account, for breach of FUG. His first post was clearly of commercial nature, and a URL drop too. Also the way he directed his comments at other people trying to help him get the gist of it... And the fact he said he wouldn't be around anyway, all lead me to believe his intentions were purely commercial and in no way to be involved in with the community at large.

Well that is sad.

I thought we wanted to get more vendors involved in the site which is why I attempted to pour some water on the flames.

Sure, I agree that Phil didn't start out on a good foot. But just banning the guy rather than getting focused on attempting to turn the debate around a bit and get a new vendor more involved in the forum?

Sad, sad, sad, sad.

It's not "sad, sad, sad"... The rules are clear, and people have to click a button accepting them before posting.

Even after posting some other people, not moderators, but community members, tried to put some sense into him.

If he can't accept other community members comments, then I have no problems with the ban.

We welcome vendors that want to participate, and as a side effect get some business. Many do already. But come here posting commercial stuff straight off the bat? Unacceptable.

For anyone interested, I've used 2talk for about a month now.  I have recently moved fom Oz, and had been on naked VOIP there for over 4 years. I've yet to see a truely novice friendly service - maybe ENGIN in Aus comes close with their preconfigured boxes, but 2talk has worked well for me from day one.  No probs with voice qualtiy.  Just read the online support and all was well.  I must make a note of thanks to Steve Biddle for his amazingly useful config link - I was a rooky and had no idea phone comms were subtely different here.

Support requests:  only had a couple regarding billing, and they were answered promptly (via email) with 24 hrs.  I have one line in Aus, and one here in NZ and calls on both have been just fine.  The only comments are from locals asking if my number REALLY is local - but I got that in OZ so I'm used to it.

Other than that, 2talk's control panel is quite useful, if a little confusing until you explore it a little.  I looked at the VFX offerings, but the plans didn't work for me.  And besides, I prefer to keep my ISP separate from my VOIP provider.

I hope this proves useful for anyone considering the service. Cheers, Biglegs.

At the risk of going O.T., Xnet's provisioning model is about as simple as it gets.

I'm sure he's ok.

I got the impression that he really didn't know much about using online forums, had even less idea about the way this one works and just manage to po a few ppl without really understanding he had until they bit back.

I read an interesting comment about small operators in the telco space the other day.  It talked about how we're not a threat to the big guys because we always manage to implode on each other and miss the big picture.

I would agree with that, seen it time and time again.

Yup... a cooperative approach among more of the mid-sized players would have enabled serious competition to the big 3 within the phone exchanges. Anyway, the era of VoIP over fibre might still trigger some kind of joint venture like that. Maybe from the NZRFG? Or not...

Hey I was wondering is it worth to switch to 2Talk from out current Provider ( digital Island )

Most of the calls we made are within NZ but often makes overseas calls.

gouray, this would be best suited to a new topic, rather than tacking onto the end of this existing one.
